So glad that you’re home and that you finally have some answers and a plan of action. I’ll be praying for you that you can avoid the feeding tube and put some pounds on with the peptamen. Please keep us posted.
Also, how do they think she got salmonella? Scary. Hopefully she’ll be feeling much better when that’s gone from her system.
HUGS.
March 27, 2007 at 1:05 am #28631AnonymousInactivehi, thanks again for everyone’s well wishes. It does mean a whole lot. For the peptamin Jr. Let me check on that… I just read it… it’s for ages one to ten… so your kids would fit in that category.
The salmonella… we have NO idea. they did an investigation though. I think perhaps her baby sitter didn’t wash their hands thoroghly after cooking or going to the bathroom. Also, grandma has dogs.. because she has a hyper sensative stomach, the salmonella we get from the paws of dogs we fight off well, Quinn can’t. So… who knows but that’s what they said, gave her anti’s and now she’s doing well. Walking and everything. we have our weight check and post hospital follow up with our pedi tomorrow. I hope to see a jump on the scale. I’ll let you all know how it goes.

March 29, 2007 at 12:00 am #28850AnonymousInactiveYesterday was Quinn’s post hospital follow up with her pediatrician. I was literally holding my breath in the waiting room. Praying as I was undressing her and going to put her on the scale. I just wanted to see at least 8 ounces in gain. Just eight ounces. That’s it. Then I would know that she was going to be alright. But, as I put her naked 14 month old butt on the scale I did not see eight ounces. I looked at the numbers and my heart just about jumped out of my chest. I felt my skin tingle with goosebumps. And I felt so incredibly happy. Not only had Quinn gained back the eight ounces she had lost, but she gained three whole pounds in just one month!!! I can officially say that Quinn is a chunky monkey. She weighed 21 pounds exactly now. WOOHOOOO. Party on SHARE PARTY ON SHARE!!! QUINN GAINED THE MOST SHE’S EVER GAINED!!! The most Quinn has ever gained in one month is four ounces. And that kind of a gain is so precious. But three pounds. Needless to say, it made my day. That means this formula is working wonders.
Dr. F. first came in there and he asked how things were going. When I said excellent he just about fell to the floor. He said, “did I hear that right? Things are really going well?” I said yes, Quinn is doing great. Everytime we go to the doctor, there’s something wrong. Some kind of problem that needs to be adressed or some reason for him to be concerned. This visit was a good visit. He asked about how it went at the hospital and about the salmonella. I told him about how she lost some weight and that’s why they kept her. He is very impressed with her gain and how well the formula is working. And very happy that she didn’t need the surgery. He commented on her chunky cheeks and her “thunder thighs” <—- they’re really not thunder thighs, but are much chunkier than her chicken legs from before. And about how her overall appearance seemed much brighter and more alert. I talked to him about how she does still have diarreha. It started up again the night before. Of course… we just have to watch her so she doesn’t get dehydrated. We scheduled a follow up in one month for weight check and to see what GI says on 4/20. As we left he said that he hopes he doesn’t see us before then, but to be sure to schedule another appointment if she isn’t doing well.
My whole day that day was a great one.
Quinn has another cold and some diarreha again, but i’m not too worried about it. She’s doing so well. So, hopefully a nasty cold is the farthest it goes.
I posted this in the hip hip hooray we’re having a good day forum too.
