so i’ve cut out all dairy, eggs, and chocolate..it’s only been 5 days..but last night i accidentally ate mayo on a burger after i asked for it with ketchup only. it took me until the end of the burger to realize that it had mayo on it. i’m wondering, am i now back to day 1? or did that one incident of a small amount not do too much damage?
January 13, 2009 at 9:41 am #60283AnonymousInactiveI had a couple of slip ups over Christmas, but I don’t think it would mean you are back to day one. However, I may be wrong. I have not eliminated eggs – should I?
January 13, 2009 at 3:13 pm #60286AnonymousInactiveNo, you aren’t back at day one. It will probably take a few days to totally clear both of your systems, so you may notice some fussiness or nasty poos (or whatever your dd’s symptoms were), but then it should regulate again.

January 13, 2009 at 3:47 pm #60295AnonymousInactiveIt won’t do too much damage… like Naomi said it will probably cause a little flare up but you definitely won’t be back @ square one. Also, it probably wasn’t a ton anyway.
However, if you were out to eat I can almost guarantee that your burger’s bun had either milk or soy in it. The only place that I have found (that has their ingredients on their website) that has a burger bun w/o milk or soy is Wendy’s. Most all fast food & restaurant chains (or really any restaurant that doesn’t make their bread & buns homemade) have milk in their buns. Trust me-lol… I look up EVERYTHING.
HTH some & hang in there…
January 14, 2009 at 3:34 am #60314AnonymousInactivewow, i guess i haven’t been very careful. i haven’t even thought about checking my breads. i checked my graham crackers and sesame crackers for milk, but not breads. i know baked goods, or anything close to baked goods (muffins, sweetbreads, cakes, etc) have milk, but i never thought just plain old bread would. ugh!
i’m not doing soy at the moment. ped said to try just dairy first, then if no progress, try eggs, nuts, and soy. i’m doing eggs now just b/c i don’t want to overwhelm myself if this doesn’t work by cutting out 3 more things at once.. lol… although if i have to, i’ll do TED, if it keeps her from being in more pain…
thanks everyone. i guess the bottom line is, i am going to have to start reading everything, and probably won’t be eating out for a while.
January 14, 2009 at 3:10 pm #60325AnonymousInactiveMost homeade breads do not contain dairy (ie: if you made bread @ your house). However, most store-bought breads contain milk &/or soy. I think b/c of the whole preservative factor – I don’t know – either way, they contain it unfortunately. … and most restaurants do not make their bread – they buy – & therefore their bread/buns contain milk/soy! You just have to be very careful & read EVERYTHING. My rule about eating out is if I can’t get info on it online (or in the restaurant) then I won’t touch it. If it’s a burger though I will just eat it plain (or w/ whatever toppings you are allowing – lettuce, onion, etc) & request it not be cooked w/ any butter, etc.
Keep TED in the back of your mind as an option still – it really is truly amazing how much it helps some dbs. I know my signature is all messed up right now (I’m working on it) but I have been on TED since June & it’s not so bad ;).
Hang in there…
