Well, I now know the meaning of this. Kaden had been doing so well and yesterday after his morning bottle of formula, well, about an hour after he ate, I was going to put him in his swing, turned him around so he was facing away from me (thank god…..) and he puked EVERYWHERE. It shot out about 2ft away from where we were standing, pure liquid, all over the carpet. He obviously was hungry shortly after this, and was quite spitty uppy all day long. His feeds were only about 4oz, as compared to his usual 6oz, and he appeard uncomfortable while eating. His back would arch again like before, and he would move his head/neck back and forth, kind of like how a chicken does. Is that a good description? He also only had one little BM yesterday, he usually has one HUGE, PB consistency one. This morning, he ate 5oz (oh, he slept all night, from 11ish until 8 this morning), hasn’t spit up more than a normal spit up, and had one formed ball of BM. I hope he isn’t becoming constipated. They are usually mushy.
Anyhow, we will see how the day progresses………………I can always take him to the ped in the next few days if this continues…………..I also hope that the dose of ranitidine isn’t starting to not work………….Thanks for listening. Oh, and now the condition PYLORIC STENOSIS is in the back of my mind…………man I hope it isn’t something like that. Is projectile puke a “normal” part of reflux? Or maybe he just had a huge burp under all that formula………June 11, 2008 at 12:06 pm #52472AnonymousInactiveAshlynn used to projectile vomit after every feeding!! We should have bought stock in carpet cleaner. P.S. starts to show up around 6-8 weeks if I am right. I am sure someone can correct me if I am wrong. stcwatt2008-06-11 13:58:45

June 11, 2008 at 1:30 pm #52476AnonymousInactiveWell today, he seems his self again. He has so far eaten his normal amount (5-6oz) and has had 2 bottles with only his usual spit up. Maybe he just had a sour belly yesterday. It certainly had me concerned though………..I guess if it keeps happening, another trip to the Dr……….
Just when I think I am getting the hang of this reflux thing………..it throws a curve ball at me!Thanks for your replies!June 11, 2008 at 10:37 pm #52501AnonymousInactiveHow long has he been on the Gentlease now? I think I remember he was on Nutramigen or Alimentum before (correct me if I’m wrong). Just keep an eye on it, and if he keeps up with the projectile vomiting it might be worth switching formula back again.
Paige only projectile vomited formula (or breastmilk) when she couldn’t tolerate it. She usually did this once or twice a day. Very shortly after switching to Neocate, the projectile vomiting stopped. Also, just curious, what part of Canada are you from? I’m in Brandon, MB.June 11, 2008 at 10:39 pm #52502AnonymousInactiveWhat are the odds of this…………….I am from Winnipeg!!!
He has been on the gentlease since May 30th and today, seems fine. Just normal spitting up, no more projectile………….Gotta go feed him, but thanks for the post. I have the switching formula in the back of my mind, will do it if we need toJune 11, 2008 at 10:52 pm #52504AnonymousInactiveWow, we’re practically neighbors – small world isn’t it! Glad to hear there hasn’t been any more projectile vomit – that’s really not fun!
