Prilosec Questions

Good Morining, I have an 18 month old son that has rcently started Prilosec 20mg in the moring 30 mins before breakfast. Yesterday he started hvaing severe diahria, he already suffered from diahria to begin with. Do any of you know if this could be a side effect of this drug? he also has a cold going on as well. I just got him back to somewhat sleeping through the night since starting the Prilosec and a childrens tum 30 min before bed, and of course he gets a cold so now there’s no more sleeping! If it’s not one thing its another 🙂

not sure about a PPI causing this? give the prilosec a good two weeks…

are you giving the beads from a capsule? when is his roughest time? I’d split the dose and give a higher portion at the toughest time (for example, evening, if sleep is bad…)

Yes it is a capsule that I empty onto applesause 30 mins before he eats breakfast, then 30 mins before he goes to bed I give him a children’s tum. And yes night time is the worse time for him or when he takes naps as well. he also started couphing really bad but only when he is laying down, the last two nights he has couphed literally all night long, and he only is taking like 30 min naps all day long.

oh and his diarrhea is watery to clay like at times and is green or yellow and very very foul smelling
