Audrey’s on 1.4 mL 3x a day. She absolutely hates the taste and has gagged and thrown up a few times when I’m giving it to her so I’ve been mixing it w/ her cereal. How do you give it?
Ours is bubble bum flavoured and taste quite good. sorry.September 30, 2008 at 3:56 pm #57258AnonymousInactiveChloeMommy wrote: amber, you soooo lucky can get her 24-30oz, that what my dd used to drink!
i’m lucky if i can get her 15oz, yesterday she take 5oz at 2am and take 5oz at 7.30pm, almost 15hours!
i think if has reflux, more to silent reflux (with the gulping, swallowing sound etc) with minimum spit up.
i’ll ask the doctor eec.
when you will take her off from ees? what you gi said about this?I just toook Jedd off and didnot ask the dr…LOL He had to do it sooner or later so we just jumped in with both feet!!!!! Thankful we have landed in a pile of vomit yet. LOLWe did however talk about weaning him at the last GI visit so he knows it’s coming. If you haven’t notced I kinda have a way of just doing things….LOL None of the DRs seem to mind. I take care of all of Jedd’s diet stuff. When he was tube fed, I set his rates and doses…..(at the highest he coudl tolerat though)…..NOONE seems to mind. It has all gove well. I research everything prior to.Hey, if I had listend to some of th eDRs then Jedd would have had a Fundo Nissen and we woudl be NOWHERE near where we are now….GGGRRRRR That was th eend of doing everything the DRs told me. It wasn’t the GI that wanted it either, it was the rehab clinic. And they told me that on our first visit. They did NOT want to see Jedd again until he had a G tube and a fundo done. NO GOOD!!!! He had no life threatening issues. He didn’t physically need one. AND I WAS RIGHT!!!!! He has sjust about out grown it.I told them all (all the DRs) to give us until Jedd reaches 2. See where we are…..this will give you a good idea…Yes there have been times I listend to the Dr ALOT of them. but we make it a team effort and all make the decision together. that is what a good working relatinship is all about. That’s what makes a GREAT DR!!!!!BTW the ONE thing I NEVER do is up meds without an RX. I jsut won’t do it. I was never comfortable doing it.Oh and yes, EES will cause cramps in little ones. Jedd got explisve diareah when we first started it. Then we had to stop it because I mean he woudl blow out of his dipaer horribly. So we switched to REglan. Then bacc to EES and he did fine the 2nd time around.September 30, 2008 at 4:21 pm #57260AnonymousInactiveChloeMommy wrote: and how much audrey weight?
chloe is 17lbs, only gain 2 oz since 3 weeks ago…not good!17 lbs?!!! WOW! That’s all I can say. I’d be lucky if she weighs 14 lbs! haha
But at least she’s gaining weight… slowly but surely. And she’s “staying consistent on her growth curve”. We weigh her every other week. It consumes so much of my time/energy to feed this little monkey that I know if I didn’t try as hard as I did, she’d definitely be FTT. She’d sleep over 10 hours at night and wake up not even hungry. She won’t even cry for food! I basically force feed her w/ a syringe or dropper if she doesn’t suck the bottle.
Amber – I’ll try the MAM bottles, but I just don’t know if it’s the nipple. Worth a shot though! I’ve tried ALL the others w/ no luck. She’d gag on all of the other nipples except for the playtex drop-ins. We’ve had the best luck on those, but then again, she hardly sucks her bottle. I’ll give it a try though. Thanks!

Bubble gum flavored? I gotta ask the pharmacist about that one. Do you refrigerate yours? I’m wondering if it’s a different suspension….
September 30, 2008 at 5:50 pm #57264AnonymousInactiveJolene~ Don’t worry my DD is 8 months old and weighs 17.5lbs 🙂 She’s very healthy and I think she was around 15lbs at 5mths. So, you’re DDs doing good, especially if they’re following their own curve. My DS was an itty bitty and he ate ALL the time. So, babies are just weird like that. lol As far as the MAMs go, I no nothing about aversions as I’ve said before so I hope I’m not one of those annoying ppl who try to push their opinions on you…BUT…My DD I do believe would have developed one too had we not had these bottles. She, still to this day, refuses any other bottle. Also, the nipple shape of the MAM bottles aren’t like the shape of their paci’s in case you’re wondering. I LOVE these bottles and wish they had them around when my DS was a Babe. I guess it’s just one of those things, you gotta try any and everything just in case it’s the thing that helps. Oh, as far as the emycin…Ours is like a whitish color and it does NOT have to be refridgerated. It lasts 30 days and then we get it refilled. We have, however, also had the pink kind which I believe is bubble gum flavored but it only lasts 10 days and then you have to get another refill. Quick question…how long has she been on the emycin? I was reading how she goes forever without eating and seems to care less about food. That sounds like how Averi was there for a while. Maybe it is DGE related and hopfully the emycin helps empty her stomach so she’ll be hungry more often and will actually take a bottle willingly!!! Good Luck! I really hope the bottles work for you…Oh, just so you know(sorry I know this is getting long)…The MAM bottles depending on the size you buy come with only 1 size nipple. The 5oz come w/stage 1 & the 8oz come w/stage 2. We purchased additional stage 3 & Xcut nipples from http://www.babyearth.com/. Just in case you’re interested!!!
September 30, 2008 at 6:25 pm #57266AnonymousInactiveyup, my dd eventhough she’s 17lbs, she takes 25-30oz in normal days, but my friend’s baby takes about 40oz a day and the same age, weight 15lbs.
anyway I gave reglan half dose this morning, she’s drinking again, now at 3.20pm already have 13oz, its better than yesterday.
But next week definitely ask for eecSeptember 30, 2008 at 6:41 pm #57267AnonymousInactiveAmber – She’s been on emycin since Saturday… so this is the fourth day. And we’ve already been having explosive poop diapers! It’s nuts. Hopefully that will subside along w/ the stomach cramps and we can reap the benefits of her eating more soon!
Thanks for the advice on the MAM bottles. That’s what I love about this board. And that’s why we’re all here – to give advice/suggestions and to listen to them from mom’s who’ve been there.
Support groups like this prevent me from losing it when I’m having a bad day. lol
September 30, 2008 at 7:00 pm #57269AnonymousInactiveWOW, 40oz a day and only 15lbs. Now that’s a fast metabolism. lol Glad to hear that she’s eating better so far today. I ALWAYS freak when Averi’s not eating well. Do keep in mind…teething is ALWAYS a possibillity. My DD was teething at 5mths of age and has been teething ever since on and off. Now she has 6 teeth and teething AGAIN. Crazy!
Jolene~ Averi has been back on it for 11 days now and I want to say about day 5 the poops regulated and now she’s been eating well. So, hopefully it’s only a matter of time!!! Also, keep in mind, the GI normally says to give it a good full 2 weeks before it is fully doing its job. GOOD LUCK! Let me know how the MAMs work out for ya. I hope she enjoys them! 🙂September 30, 2008 at 8:45 pm #57271AnonymousInactivebtw chloemommy—– christie
Amber, averi is 8 month, hopefully the gerd/dge problem is near the end.
let me know and keep me update ok? waiting outgrow the dge…Jolene, our 5 month babies will outgrow it very soon!
thx Jessica!
next week, i will ask for eec and then i will ask for more support and advice from all of you!
again, this forum helps me so much with all the info, since doctor usually don’t give us much info and don’t like parent know everything and “outsmart” them.
but parents know what best for their babies!September 30, 2008 at 10:23 pm #57274AnonymousInactivejolene_h wrote: [QUOTE=*Jessica*][QUOTE=jolene_h]Amber, that’s quite an increase! That’s awesome! Yes it has to be kept cold in the fridge. It really dose actually taste good. I have tated all of Jed’s meds. It last for a month. By far THE most nasty is Pregnisome…EEEWWWWWW It was bad. It’s a steroid he took for croup.A close second was his Lasix he took. It’s a diuretic he took to hlep control his congestive heart failure.*Jessica*2008-09-30 22:24:42
October 1, 2008 at 11:55 am #57285AnonymousInactivehi anyone,
yesterday chloe took 25 oz, i gave her reglan 1 ml in the morning, and thats it, just once.
supposedly i have to give 3-4 times a day.
but i think if 1 ml once a day okay, then thats the dosage i’m giving her and wait for the next week appt to change it to emicyn.i do now think she has silent reflux and mild case of dge, in fact all babies with reflux has some degree of dge.
