Sebastian had his second ped GI apt this morning. It went pretty well. She said that the next step would be to do a swallow study and an endoscopy. I asked if it was common for problems to show up on the scope when the ph probe was normal and she said, it does happen. I told her I was not really comfortable doing the scope unless she thought it was absolutely necessary. She said she was a little concerned about his posturing (the thing he does with his head) but she said we could do the swallow study first and see what that showed and then decide if we wanted to precede with the scope. He will be seeing her again in a month.
I feel good about the plan. She wanted to do the swallow study because he makes the “glurpy” noses when he eats solids, but not his bottle. She said when the have problems with different consistencies it may mean there is a problem with how he is swallowing the food. She is going to have the test done at U of M because she said they have a better facility.
She did not think that his not being able to tolerate any new foods since he was five months old was a big deal. She said just keep trying and he will outgrow the problems. I guess if he continues to have issues I will have to look for another Dr. to help out with that.
With any luck he will out grow all this crap by next month and I wont have to worry about it.
