Does anyone’s LO’s have constant mucsousy poop? Evie is on just neocate and her poops are always a little or moderately mucousy, and a little seedy. I had tried some easy solids (sweet potatoes, squash) but took her off over two weeks ago b/c I thought they were causing the mucous. She is 5 mos. and I’ve decided to hold off on all solids until 6 mos. Any thoughts??

usually mucous is intolerance, thats what it was in our case.i know laura sent me a post about teething/colds and mucous poos.. but has she been teething constantly and or having a constant runny nose?i did ask my GI nurse if shanes mucous poop could be from teething..and she said yes, but not as long as he has been having it..(he had only had it for about 2 weeks). we took him off soy formula and within 2 or 3 days it was gone.hope that helps?!shanesmom2007-07-27 16:28:20
July 27, 2007 at 4:49 pm #39980AnonymousInactiveWe have mucousy poop about 2 diapers/day, we have about 4bm’s day. My ped GI said it was from Cooper’s protein intolerance (he has MSPI) we are on nutramigen and since that is his only symptom I haven’t changed formulas. We have started solids as well, we have had squash, carrots and just started green beans last night (doing 5 days each to make sure no allergy). So far so good on the solids. His mucous did increase when he was cutting his first 2 teeth, but so did his poops, we were at about 6-10 then and had a horrible diaper rash. I hope this helps. Cooper’s mom2007-07-27 16:49:38

I would hold off on the solids until 6 months…Caden reacted to bananas, and several other “safe” foods when he was 5 1/2 months, so I took him off of solids until after 6. Now, at 9 months he seems to be tolerating everything well.Good luck!July 28, 2007 at 3:07 am #40000AnonymousInactiveWe’ve got mucous too! I did TED for almost a month and milk and soy free free for more than that and Kate still has mucousy poop. We have NO idea exactly why but our ped and G.I are chalking it up to just an immature digestive system. She’s almost 5 months too(CRAZY!!!). Has she always had mucous? Kate sort of has but she has no other weird symptoms so we’re not too worried about it. HTH
