May 7, 2007 at 2:41 pm #32509AnonymousInactiveKendra is on Neoacate and her stools has always been either green or black, but today (no solids at all, just yesterday she had some pear baby food(very little), but she has had this before and her poo did not change) her poos has been yellowish and blackish and one greenish and yellowish and has a bit of mucus in it. iam a bit worry b/c mucus in stool is general no good. she also feels feverish and i can’t tell if it is form her G-tube site or something else. She has been waking up for two nights now(she usually sleeps good) an dis kind of sleepy.i called the Nurse sergeon and she said that the poo change is not form the sergury and that i should mention it to my ped. i will call for sure it this continues, but i was wondering if anybody whom child is on Neocate or had g-tube placement also has experienced this sudden stool changed before and can give me some ideas as what this can mean?
She hasn’t had Breastmilk in five days; so i don’t htink is related to it. I am worry sheis getting sick with something. she is wanting to be held a lot, when she usually is content playing wit her toys.
TIAMay 7, 2007 at 2:47 pm #32514AnonymousInactiveI wonder if she is coming down with something. Could you take her in for a blood test to see if her white count is high? Especially with the night wakings = makes me wonder. I hope her g-tube isn’t getting infected. Is it red at all? Does she act like it is tender? With it being so soon since the g-tube it makes me wonder.

that’s the thing, her site it’s not oozy at all,is a bit red, but no too bad looking, she does act like it hurts when i am trying to clean it, but that’s normal since iam touching a tender spot. the nurse sergeon din’d sound concerned. i am kind of observing her liek crazy for any other signs. i hate the waiting game, kind you tell
May 7, 2007 at 4:13 pm #32527AnonymousInactiveIt is so hard to know!!! Maybe wait and see what tonight brings and how she is acting tomorrow morning – if she plays alone or is clingy again.
When is your re-check appiontment? It has been 9 days – so I am wondering if you go back in 2 weeks which would be this Friday.
May 7, 2007 at 7:38 pm #32534AnonymousInactiveIf she’s feverish I’d definitley take her to the doctor or at least give him a call. She must have an infection somewhere. Hopefully it’s nothing more than a virus, but it’s probably best to have it checked out. Good luck and please keep us posted.
May 7, 2007 at 9:30 pm #32550AnonymousInactiveDo you think she could be teething? I know I’ve seen my kids’ poo change colors, etc. when they are teething. They’ve had fevers with teething too. Just an idea. It probably wouldn’t hurt to take her in if it continues though – especially with the fevers. Hope she gets feeling better.

If nothing else it gives you some breathing space from the WORRY. I’m a frequent flyer at the Drs and I am sure they have red flagged my file…but who cares!
Alana has been clingy and not sleeping well (poos OK) and it is definately teething….I can see them under the gum (FINALLY)!
I hope Kendra feels more herself soon.
May 8, 2007 at 8:13 am #32576AnonymousInactiveHeather,
i so wished it was teething, but i can’t see anyhting. although i know it might take a couple of days before you see anyhting sometimes.
Therese,
i definately have a reg flag by my file too. my doc secretary can be very unfriendly when i call, but i tried really hard not buy her head off with some nasty blow out, specially when you are stressed out about your kid. i do change my tone of voice and she knows iam not in the mood.
Kendra di dnot sleep good last night again, but her first poo is black looking gain today. i did call the ped and she said it sounded like stomach bug and as long the poo doesn’t chnage to whitetish looking just keep her hydrated. Thank you all, you guys are so supportive.
