My 4 month old is spitting up or thtrowing up ALOT! She is on Prevacid solutabs but I need something that will make her stop throwing up so much. She spits up about half of each of her feedings. No one else seems to be concerned because she is still gaining weight, but it can’t be good.
are you giving it on an empty stomach followed by a meal 30 minutes later?
not much will stop the spitting up. the prevacid will stop the pain & the acid, so if it’s a proper dose & being administered properly, then it shouldn’t be acidic & then it shoudn’t be burning…now, if it’s causing baby to lose weight, that’s another issue…
Ditto to what Laura said. The only thing that helps the spitting is time. 4-7 ,months tends to be the peak for reflux symptoms so you might just be in the peak and it will start to taper off. Hang in there.
My daughter stopped projectile vomiting when we got her completely off of cow’s milk proteins and onto Neocate formula. When she was breast fed (I was eating dairy) and when she was on Pregestimil (derived from cow’s milk) she would projectile vomit huge amounts – like it was her entire stomach contents. This was one of the first things that improved when she was switched to Neocate (I think TED would have been good too had I been BF’ing). She still refluxed, and needed a good dose of Prevacid to be comfortable, but the projectile vomiting of her stomach contents stopped.
My first some would spit up alot. We called him our “Super Puker”. I started burping him with his paci in his mouth, that way he could still burp but was sucking…so if anything came up, he would swallow it back down. He would suck on his paci for like an hour after each feeding. Thats if your little one will take a paci… my 2nd lil’ guy wont.
My daughter is a bit over 5 months and she still spits up a good bit BUT not nearly as much as before. As of late is has tapered off some. Her ability to digest stuff is a different story.
