Hi Heather,
I’m glad Bryce is doing better!
It looks like he and David were born a week and a half apart. How early was he?
My Sarah (who is 6) was a 29 weeker (1lb 10oz) and had plenty of problems of her own. I thought we had it made with David when he made it to 35 weeks but this year has been pretty terrible. Harder even than Sarah’s first year. He has been (and still is) miserable but hopefully we are on the way to getting some help for him now.
Your hands must be really full with three little ones, one being a preemie with difficulties! I’m glad you have found some things that are helping him!
Have a good night!

Bryce was born at 36 weeks. He’s sure had a lot of problems too. It’s been a crazy year for us too. Although honestly, I think he’s had more problems with the reflux than with anything else. Even his cleft palate & heart surgery. Of course I’m sure they all contribute. How is David doing developmentally? All of this has really affected Bryce’s development, but he is moving forward slowly but surely.
Yes, it is pretty busy with three little boys . Needless to say, my house doesn’t ever get as clean as I’d like it to be. I bet it’s nice to have 3 big brothers to help out with your little ones.

David has been on the slow side developmentally. I noticed it particularly with how long it took him to start reaching for things. The doctor held something out for him at four months and he didn’t even try for it. He didn’t sit up until nine months either although now he is crawling and pulling himself up so it’s hard to think that he’s not going to be just fine. He has gotten very busy recently.
We moved here from Wisconsin last year and they have such a great birth to three program, I know he would have qualified there but his pediatrician hasn’t been too concerned here. Mostly just keeping an eye on it to make sure that he is still making mile stones even though he’s been making them late.
Where is Bryce at with development? Sarah ran almost six months behind much of the time during her first three years but we were involved with birth to three with her and it was a very good experience. You would never know now that she was ever behind. I don’t know if it would have all come along in it’s own time or if birth to three significantly helped but she enjoyed it. We had a really awsome Occupational Therapist through all three years.
Having three big brothers has been nice. I honestly don’t know what I would have done without them. They don’t have a long attention span for helping but even the little bits have been invaluable. They have each developed their own special ways of trying to comfort David since he’s been so fussy. Thinking about how helpful they have been makes me really admire you! I remember very clearly how busy three little boys were and my third baby was my easiest and happiest baby.
Have a great day!

Bryce is pretty far behind developmentally. It’s a little more complicated with him because not only was he a preemie, but he has been through multiple surgeries. So those put him back even more. PLUS the horrible reflux & his cleft palate. He’s 10 months old now. He still gets most of his food from a feeding tube simply because he has not learned how to eat well orally (the reflux really affected this one). What milk he does eat orally we spoon feed him because he won’t suck a bottle and can’t nurse because of his cleft – he’s up to about 2 oz. orally now (sometimes). He just barely learned to roll over at 9 mo. and he still does not sit or crawl. (He is really close on both of those though).
We are working with a Occupational Therapist from Early Intervention (something like your birth to three program). She, along with a nurse, come to our home once a week to work with Bryce. She’s really great and has really helped Bryce. I don’t know where we’d be without her! I remember things were so overwhelming before we started working with EI.
Well, have a good night!
