I have seen the post by szvella about the nemours group and ped gi, but was wondering if anyone else had any recommendations. I have lloked at the lists provided by laura and this was the only I saw in this area. I really would like to find a Ped GI that goes by the recommendations on marci-kids. Any thoughts would be greatly appriecated.
Just wanted to let you know that we use Nemours in Orlando. They have a satellite site here in Brevard County. I do not know anyone around central FL who is familiar with marci-kids, and I think I searched pretty thouroughly! The bad news is, one of the few ped gi’s at Nemours just resigned. We are unable to get a routine follow-up appointment until February. It was supposed to be in November until the Dr. resigned. The good news is, they are really good at writing Rx for Neocate to get insurance to cover it, if MSPI is a concern. More good news–maybe he will be replaced with someone more up to speed on reflux treatment! I would try talking with your regular ped or maybe finding a family physician who can help. A lot of moms find that family dr.’s are more willing to up the doses for babies. HTH a little! Where in central FL are you???
I was able to get my son’s ped to try prevacid, but they only ordered 5mg/day, which was then upped to 7.5mg/day by pharmacy due to med availability. I just feel they won’t increase more, since they wanted such a low dosse in the first place. I am currently in the process of getting an appt with Dr.Bornstein with nemours, hopefully he will up the meds. It states on his bio he specializes in GERD.
Just an FYI, there is a nurse in the Ped GI office, that is super nice. Her name is Joanne I think??? She should be able to work with you. Bring a printout with you from marci-kids. Good luck
