my ped seems to know nothing about reflux, he just kinda goes along with whatever i say but has no answers to my questions. I read in the introduce yourself to get a ped gi. my question is, do i need a referral, cause i dont think my ped will give me one, hes the one who kept saying my son was just a fussy baby and to wait it out when i kept bringing him in.

I don’t think you need a referral to see the doc, but depending on your insurance, you may need one for it to be covered. We saw our ped GI and then got a bill b/c our insurance didn’t cover it, come to find out our peds office never sent the referral… got that taken care of though. So if you don’t mind paying out of pocket for the visit due to lack of referral I think you should be fine.

I know exactly how you feel, Vonna. I can’t stand when my ped tells me that Caden will outgrow this eventually! I already know that, but it doesn’t help him in the time being, and it doesn’t solve anything. What happened to doctors who want to actually fix the problem and help people? Mine just wants to patch things over and push us out the door. We have switched to a new pediatrician, so hopefully we’ll get some help this time…

P.s. With our insurance, we don’t have to have a referral – maybe you don’t either. You probably have to call and find out. I hope it is an easy process for you
