Just curious if anyone has had it done. My DD has had the RAST testing, but now the allergist wants her PATCH tested as well. They said she’ll get patches on her that they will evaluate after 72hrs. I had never heard of it, only the RAST & skin prick. So, I was curious as to if anyone has had it done or their LOs have had it done. Thanks!
We had this done and it was the only test that finally gave us some anwers. 10 positive out of 30). We have taken other foods out even when they did not show on the test, but i suspected there were a problem. Like any test is no 100% accurate, but it was worth a shot for us. It is not painful. the tricky part is to leave it on for at least 48 hours and not get water for 72 hours.
I had not heard of this until the other day when Leo mentioned it in another thread. I will say that when we did our skin prick we also had “intradermal” injections as well (like a TB test) and they were difficult b/c they really hurt. We had RAST done after our skin prick and the only thing the checked for with the RAST was his severity to egg.
Leo~ Did they make YOU bring in the offending foods to do the testing? Our allergist told me to bring samples of the foods I think Averi has a problem w/.
This test does, to me, seem like we would get more of an accurate response. Especially since the offending foods are kept on her skin for 72hrs. So, we’ll see if anything shows up. I wish they could test for intolerances too! lol
Our allergist had several food panels containing different food samples to pick from. We picked the panel i thought had the most trouble foods. That was also what we could afford. We had to pay out of pocket beacuse he was out of network. The only food we brought from home was some neocate powder to have tested as i suspected she was reacting to something in the neocate (specially the corn syrup).
After the test, my husband suggetsed we keep the alluminun plates (wach them really well) and try to put food sample and test it ourselves; it seem easier enough. I never got around it though, so i don’t know if it have worked.
