opinions on my nephew

ok, Denver is almost 2 ( on nov 8th)and weighs about 25 lbs, he’s TINY but also tallish and very active, he hardly ever eats, and is always sticking his fingers down his throat and gagging himself, usually to the point where he vomits. At first we all thought it was just something he was doing to annoy my sister because it always gets a big reaction out of her, but he’s always extremely constipated and sometimes tells his daddy that it makes him feel better to do that. Once he said his throat hurt, then gagged himself and said “all better” afterwards….it’s just weird to me..any thoughts? Aidansmom792006-10-24 14:12:35

My first instinct would also be the attention thing, but it sounds like it is more than that. Does he ever do it when other people are not around? For example when playing, and is not aware that his mom/dad are watching? I think that would say there is something definitly bothering him. Is there a good GI she can bring him to?

He does soemtimes just do it out of the blue, seemingly for no reason (but he’s only 2 and is still adjusting to his 6 month old brother so who knows!!!). She just switched to the ped. I use for Aidan, and I told her to ask about it at his 2 year checkup. It just worries me that he has gained like 2 ounces in a year!!!!!! I’ve never actually SEEN him do it, I’ve seen him start to, but not actually do it.

Kaelyn does that. I worry that it’s a reflux thing because she often seems to do it after she burps. It seems like something is bothering her and if she could just reach it, she would feel better. However, when I ask her if it hurts, she says no. She doesn’t seem to know why she does it. Her ped says that it’s not uncommon for kids in her age group to do stuff like that. Who knows?
