Hi everyone –
I haven’t posted here in a little while but I have been checking in frequently. I notice some new names who won’t know Owen’s story but I thought that I would post this anyway, since I know that I always would appreciate reading when someone was near the end of the reflux journey.
Anyway, after being on Prevacid since he was about 8 weeks old, we gave Owen his last dose on Friday night! We weaned him VERY slowly – I think we took about a month to actually finally wean him. Amazingly we haven’t noticed any change at all – which is a good thing!
We also finally stopped giving him his nighttime bottle. I thought it was going to be a huge battle but I gave him a cup instead and he drank out of that happily! He was pretty attached to that bottle but it seems like if he doesn’t see it, he doesn’t miss it! We did have him say bye bye to it after his last one, but I doubt he really knew what that meant. Whatever it was, I’m happy that it was easier than I thought it would be!
Anyway, I just thought I should post this here since I came here SO much for the past year and a half. Thank you all so much for all of the help that you’re always willing to share. I’m sure I’ll continue to come here to check in and I’m not convinced that this is the end of the refluxroad for us, but I wanted to just give you some hope that the screaming feeds, the sleepless nights and the endless worrying really does come to an end – although I’m sure the endless worrying will continue about other things.
Thanks for all of your help!
Laura
