waving hello!
I’m the aforementioned laura & I’ve been on this board closing in on 5 years now. you might not believe me, but it does get better…not so encouraging at this moment in time, I know…jonah shrieked & howled nonstop. he made himself hoarse once, when the dr (who I actually like) neglected to mention that he should stay on the zantac until the PPI ‘kicked in’ because until it did, it was like he wasn’t on any meds at all. long story short, he shrieked and howled so much over a 24hr time frame that he lost his voice. pitiful!so I did ‘discover’ babywearing and it not only saved ME but my husband too and of course the baby, lol. I even got out of the house & met other like-minded mothers (via local babywearing groups/meetings)here (look for the link that says ‘condensed’ from here) you go: https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1044&PN=1you’ll find that I’m ‘the link lady’ lol!I love to help by providing info and, from time to time, I’ll actuallyjoin the ‘conversation’, like now…hang in there!~lauraApril 15, 2008 at 7:50 pm #50391AnonymousInactiveWell, for one day she liked the baby bjorn and then I tried it again and she didnt like it again. I also have a sling and she hates that too. I wish she would like something like that but unfortunately she doesnt. She seems to not like much of anything. She likes to eat and that is about it. But then she spits up after and hates being burped – so the feeding is miserable but she likes the eating part.
April 15, 2008 at 8:24 pm #50399hellbenntKeymasterwell…I would check to see if there are any local babywearing mamas near you- I’ve gotten some from this board together w/ others on http://www.thebabywearer.com before, but to be honest I dont’ have the time to do that at the moment…but it’s worth a shot for you to meet other great mamas who TOTALLY don’t care about screaming, etc & TOTALLY care about trying to help you w/ finding the right sling/position, etc for you & your baby…so maybe just check out the link? ya never know…

My lil man is only content when being held but he HATED being in anything but our arms. I went and got a sling (and blessed the links provided!) and started him out in it, but with my arms under him so he felt like I was still holding him (what difference does it make to me? I’ve already been carrying him for 8 months! ) He also HATED being laid down…he’s an upright kinna guy, I guess! LOL So once we got him in an upright position and slowly transitioned him to the sling holding him instead of me (only took a couple days)…we had a much happier mommy and baby.I sure hope things get better soon. I can totally sympathize with what you’ve been going through, with what many of these women have been going through. I lost my mom to cancer two months before I delivered Xavier, he had trouble at birth and spent 5 weeks in the NICU so there went my maternity leave (only 6 weeks) and I was left with the choice of go back to work and put my child who’s still recovering from collapsing both lungs into daycare or stop working and possibly lose our new house we just built. Easy choice…and we’re lucky that my husband’s family is wonderful in helping us financially while we’re down to only one income.Really hope Isabella gets to feelin better soon so YOU can get to feelin’ better soon!!April 25, 2008 at 11:01 am #50844AnonymousInactiveI am also a babywearing mama. My first son loved the sling, but second hated it. I finally got a mei tai and he loved that. I think going to a babywearing meeting is a great idea. That way you can try on different carriers to see what you and your baby like. You will find that there are many different carriers out there. You will also find that some of them are very comfy and some really hurt your back and shoulders. I hope you find something soon that works for you and your baby.
