Carson has been fully changed to alimentum at this point to check for milk intolerance. Today was the first day of straight alimentum. Unfortunately, he has been spitting clear fluid all day, about 3-4 T at a time. To be sure this can’t be stomach acid because he gets 20 mg nexium twice a day. I am at a loss here. Has anybody got any ideas on this new thing???
September 21, 2008 at 9:40 pm #56955AnonymousInactiveIt’s clear??? HHMMMMM that’s a new one to me. Is he empty whne he does it?? When was the last time he ate prior to spitting the clear fluids???
It coudl very well be stomach contents. Does he have to retch HARD to get it up????September 22, 2008 at 12:08 am #56966AnonymousInactiveBefore Nicholas was on any meds for GERD, his spit up was clear. I have never had any of the drs (peds or GI) be able to tell me what it was. I would also LOVE to know. They always looked at me like I was a nut case.

When Jedd’s is really flaring I can walk in his room at night and SMELL it when I hit the door…EEEWWWWW Poor boy.September 22, 2008 at 9:08 am #56979AnonymousInactiveThe spit can happen empty or full. Puzzling hu????? He had a bottle at 8 this morning and before 9 he was spitting clear stuff. He doesn’t have to wrethch hard, it just comes up and it is not thick like mucus but is thicker than water. I am so lost on this one. It doesn’t smell like formula and has no color.
September 22, 2008 at 12:58 pm #56984hellbenntKeymasterI would guess acid- I hate to be gross but taste it? jonah’s clear spit would taste like if you put your tongue on the tip of a battery (now why would you do THAT? LOL! bcse youi canb test to see if it’s still goodthat way? LOL!)
September 22, 2008 at 8:59 pm #56996AnonymousInactiveIt IS acid. Is this where the thing about teething makes it worse comes in? I mean how much freaking medication does he have to take? I am at a loss here? How long should I wait to call the GI? Carson has been teething for 3 months with not one tooth in sight.
I mean at some point it will return to damaging the esophagus again. I am so upset about this. We just got all healed up and the acid under control and now this and why did the Alimentum start it???Part of this is just a vent. I am sure you all understand and if not I sincerely apologize.HELP PLEASESeptember 22, 2008 at 10:42 pm #56999AnonymousInactiveI’d call the GI and see if they will test some of the fluid for you. The hard part woudl be they need a “fresh” sample and they have to “schedule” the procedure…hard timing when you do’t know when it will happen.
Jedd had Ph Study (not to be confused with a Ph Probe…LOL) We drained gastric juices form his G tube and they tested it for us to see how acidic it was.Jedd had been given his Prilosec about a hour prior and was empty feed wise from midnight the night prior. His “juices” were at a 4. That’s too acidic!!!! Esp. considering that he had taken his prilosec right before!!!!!The only way for them to do that on your DS would be to put an NG down him and suck it out…OUCH…not that bad really. Jedd had one in his nose for over 8.5 months. We did this tests primarily to be abel to PROVE without a doubt that Jedd’s meds needed to be upped above the norm for his body weight. It worked. We were given the green light to up his med drastically.September 22, 2008 at 10:42 pm #57000AnonymousInactiveOh you coudl alwasy get some litmus paper and test it yourself if the GI will take that.
