October 25, 2008 at 2:24 pm #58041AnonymousInactiveAlso I forgot to mention that Lactose Intolerance is very common in Hirschsprung’s Disease children. As of infants I am not sure. I will have to look that one up on my Hirschsprung’s forum. So that’s why I am so confused. There is to many things to worry about, as she just had surgery 4 weeks ago. So are the signs different in MSPI, the Lactose Intolerance?

October 25, 2008 at 2:33 pm #58043hellbenntKeymasterok for a 10lb 8 oz baby here’s where I got kilos:
4.760 kilos – I’m rounding to 4.8 kilosHere is recommended dosing of Axid (also called nizatidine) for the treatment of GERD in infants and children: Children <12 years: 10mg/kg/day divided into two daily doses.
10mgs per kg: 10 x 4.8 = 48mgs total for the day of axid

your axid bottle says 15mgs/mlso 48 divided by 15 = 3.2mls total for the day of axidyou can give in ‘uneven’ doses- a higher does at night or just keep trying various combinations…ex:0.5ml + 2.7ml1ml + 2.2ml1.5ml + 1.7mlsor 1.6ml + 1.6mlOctober 25, 2008 at 2:47 pm #58046hellbenntKeymasterI didn’t answer about mspi and lactose intolerance. I would imagine if it was truly lactose intolerance, then baby would have to be on an elemental formula and you’d be given something like lactaid to make the formula truly lactose-free?from here: Mspi/allergy info(‘main page’): https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2697&PN=1&TPN=1
there’s an EXCELLENT article about the differences b/t allergies and intolerances- look for the linkalso look for the link called something like “Misconceptions about Elemental Formulas’ (might say about Neocate and Elecare Formulas…)October 25, 2008 at 2:57 pm #58050AnonymousInactiveThank you so much. That is a life safer!!!! Never thrived in my math skills!!! I really don’t think she is lactose intolerant know reading everything. Although the symptoms seemed similar. She did have a problem about building up gas in her intestines. Every x-ray and lower GI showed lots of gas build up. Even after decompressing her and let the gas out, in a matter of minutes it would build back up. This could also be milk intolerance, Right? She is doing a lot better know that we are home from the hospital. She has only throw up one feeding so far today, but is still only eating around 2-2.5oz each feeding. So we will see how the rest of the day goes. Thank you for your replies they have help greatly!
