Hi there,
As I mentioned in my HELP post, my son is on Zantac for reflux, and we also switched him to soy formula for possible milk allergy. A few days after we did, my MIL mentioned “oh, yeah, [baby’s youngest uncle] had to be on soy formula too”. The other two uncles, my MIL, and her father all developed lactose intolerance too.
Anyway, I tried Enfamil Soy and it was wonderful for about 4 days. Our biggest problem aside from reflux was constant diaper rashes & yeast infections, and I was surprised to see the existing one cleared up straight away. Except then by Saturday evening my son had a yeast infection yet again.
I had it cleared up by yesterday morning, then it flared up again by evening.
We decided to try Nutramigen instead.
But I’m wondering, when I breastfed I remember cow’s milk would take about 2 weeks to clear out of my system entirely. Is it possible that this is the case for my son too – that the regular formula milk hasn’t left his body entirely so I should give soy a longer chance? If not, is Nutramigen a good choice here?
