Hi. My husband and I are new to this site… but we’re so happy to have found it. I “introduced” us in the intro forum, but here I am, as we’re having a hard night. Today/night was the WORST of any of our days so far. Overall, our baby girl (3 weeks) doesn’t have really bad reflux… I mean, it’s bad for her and bad for us to watch her have, but in comparison with others, it’s not horrible. However, today she’s been getting marjorly sick after every feeding… I couldn’t even use the normal 2 birp rags I normally use… I used a blanket and by the end it was saturated. To make it worse, my husband is out of town for the weekend. Called the dr… they are having me give her small amounts of pedialite for a little while, then small amounts of breast milk… she’s also screaming because of course, after throwing up virtually everything I’ve fed her, she’s hungry, but the dr doesn’t want her to have breastmilk until she holds down some pedialite…

Anyway – I’m sorry I’m rambling… just sad, discouraged and worried about her. Thanks for “listenting” to me vent…

I’m so sorry you’re going through this! When my baby boy was about 8 weeks old, my husband and I had to take him to the ER. He had been refusing to eat all day and became very dehydrated. We knew because he had no wet diapers all day and his soft spot was very sunken in. They had to hook him up to an IV at the ER and give him fluids. They also gave him some Pedialite and made sure he peed a good amount before they released him. So, if you really can’t keep any fluids in her, you could always take her in and see if they’ll get some fluids in her. It helped my baby feel better and finally get some sleep. But if you can get some Pedialite in him, that should help with the dehydration.

I hope things get better! I know how awful it is to be at home alone and worried about your baby. And vent anytime you want! I have and everyone on here made me feel so much better and gave me hope!

OMG-girl-a baby who can’t keep anything down and a hubby who is out of town? I think that qualifies as bad enough! No advice on the excessive spit up/throw up-we were blessed never to have that particular issue (wonder if Jessica is right and it’s not ‘flux related)…but huge hugs to you!!
