Neocate the answer?

My son has been on the prevacid for almost 4 weeks now. Also, he has been on the neocate completely for one week. I noticed 3 days ago a major change in his colic. Out of no where he has eased up on the crying all day. He is now 10 weeks old and I’m finally able to feel a bond with him. Could it be the neocate that has helped with the colic or the prevacid? He still spits up a ton but the colic has decreased 75%. I hate to keep him on the formula if it’s not what has helped but I’m not sure which one worked the prevacid or the formula. If the neocate is working would he still be throwing up the same? Is the formula supposed to help with the throwing up? Thanks in advance.

Edit: My ds has been on neocate for 2 weeks (1 weaning off nutramigen and 1 entirely neocate)

Normally an elemental formula like neocate or elecare take a good 2+ weeks to repair any damage and for you to see a change due to the formula. IMO, it sounds like maybe BOTH things are what has helped him. YES, he would still be throwing up w/the formula even if it has been helping. Neither the formula nor the meds would decrease spitting up. The prevacid is what helps him not be in pain when he does throw-up. And w/the formula (b/c thinner than most) you may notice more spitting up. As long as your LO isn’t screaming in pain anymore than I think both things are doing their jobs! I wouldn’t change a thing if it’s working. Awesome news that your LO is doing so much better!!! HTH
