is there anyone on Neocate who didn’t have an endoscopy. We have McKenzie on it as a supplement…she was doing OK with Alimentum, but I started noticing things that were red flags and so I decided to nip it in the bud and put her on Neocate…but after reading the MSPI sticky post (sorry laura…I should have done that a long time ago) I am feeling like maybe I should have one done for McKenzie….I have been given the OK to have one scheduled…but I am just on the fence about it, because my GI is on board with the marci kids dose of prevacid and so I just dont know what else we would do….what do ya’ll think?

Paige has been on Neocate since she was about 12 weeks old and has never had an endoscopy. However, since her gut hasn’t improved much yet (she’s a bit of a unique case) she will most likely be getting one in the near future.

What are your “red flags”? Perhaps we can give you our thoughts based on those.

both Dylan and Carter switched to neocate without the endoscopy. Our theory was if we switched them and they were better, we didn’t really need to put them through it to begin with. Both had dramatic improvements on the Neocate, so we never did one for that. Carter has had other “oscopies” but not for the switch to neocate….

Well she was starting to get really fussy after each feeding on Alimentum…she has always been a baby that loves to be held, but she would sit in her seat Ok for me…but after about 10 days on Alimentum she would just get so uncomfortable EVERY time you put her down. No rashes or blood in the stool, but certainly more of blowout type diapers…since we switched to Neocate this is gone for the most part.

Ann Marie, how long did you have Dylan and Carter on neocate?

dylan till 13 months and then rice milk

Carter till 12 months and then whole milk… no issues since…

I would try the Neocate a bit longer and see if the symptis clear up. If not you can do the EDG and “see” what is going on.
