MSPI and food intolerance?

My daughter has an MSPI (on Elecare) and the reflucx (prevacid 7.5 mhg 3x/day)

We started solid foods and pears and oatmeal were a great success. She loves them and there were no problems.

We tried carrots next and that was a disaster. They made her very gassy, mucous showed up in her stool, and she was miserable. She started waking up every 90 minute overnight.

We stopped the carrots last Friday and she is getting back to her typical routine.

My question is, what foods do I try next? I have been going one at a time and waiting 10 days to be sure. I am just afraid of causing her more discomfort.

I was thinking banana? or avocado? or plums?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Banana is a good first food. Make sure to take solids slowly. My daughter MSPI and a refluxer and had a terrible reaction to carrots too. We only do one new solid per week. Check out wholesomebabyfood.com. Lots of info on when to start different foods. Good luck!

It really depends on the LO. My DD couldn’t tolerate bananas until she was a year old. It really sucks, but there’s no great “list” that is definite. It’s all trial and error. You’re transitioning slowly so that’s good. All you can do is try and hope that she does fine. Good Luck! Personally, I’d go w/avocado next. 🙂

Leah has not had carrots since Saturday but there is still mucus in her stool today (Tuesday). How long will it take for it to leave her system.

I don’t know. It could be a little while — it typically takes a while for any offender to work it’s way out of the system. Kalyn vommitted violently when she had carrots but after she vommitted everything out of her system, she was fine.
