We’ve found that the MoM works WAY too well. I’m trying to find a good dose for her. It seems that whatever we give, she has big huge blowouts (both times at day care). On Thursday they told me she was grunting and crying and constipated, so that night I gave her 1.5tsp in her evening bottle. The next day when i went to pick her up from day care the teacher was standing there holding a disinfectant bottle and Hailey was mostly unclothed with no shoes. She said “WE NEED TO TALK” and proceeded to tell me a horrific story of how Hailey had a nasty poo blowout all out her diaper right down to her shoes, up her back, on her hands, and hair, and the rug. Just hearing about it made me sick, though I couldn’t help but think that I was glad it happened there and not at home. Sounded stinky! Then the supervisor was talking to a few parents at what a bad day they had, and she said “the heat broke all morning, then a water pipe blew in the infant room, and then…” and she looked at me and stopped. I had to add in “then Hailey blew in the toddler room!”
Anyhow, does anyone use MoM and know how much to give? If we have another blowout at school I think they’ll come after me. The teacher looked really mad.

I’m figuring this isn’t the last time us mums will hear this comment
At least she had a good clean out anyway…

When I heard about the poopy explosion, I was kind of relieved, though did feel bad for them for having to clean it up. DH is much more blunt than I am… he said “Better them then us. That sounds nasty.”
March 20, 2007 at 5:15 am #27889AnonymousInactiveHubby sounds right on the mark to me. I often cross my fingers that if Alana is to have a “crabby day” it is with the girls at daycare. Then I get my 60 bucks a day worth
March 20, 2007 at 11:26 am #27927AnonymousInactiveLOL, Therese. I guess I felt the same way, but felt guilty about admitting it!! BTW, you pay a LOT for day care! Is it public or private?
March 20, 2007 at 4:46 pm #27972AnonymousInactiveDay care is private…but the government income test it and give you a rebate/discount or something (I think I get like $6 a day of…making it $54…but I will wait until the end of the financial year to claim it). We are by no means well off and earn only an average income…so rebate smebate!!!
March 21, 2007 at 2:25 pm #28080AnonymousInactiveWe used to use 1tsp a day a long time ago. How has she been doing since the “incident of the blowout”?
March 21, 2007 at 4:07 pm #28098AnonymousInactiveTherese- I guess it’s not as bad as it sounds when you do the math… around $1000 a month, right? Our daycare centre was almost 1200 a month for Hailey, but it’s a lot less if you do in home care.
Sarah- I haven’t given her that much since the incident, and she’s still quite constipated. I’m trying to find that happy medium. How’s Isaac?
March 21, 2007 at 9:37 pm #28128AnonymousInactiveHe has been doing better lately-not quite where he needs to be but better. He starts his group therapy next wednesday and I am hoping that will change things for him! Thanks for asking
March 22, 2007 at 5:24 am #28143AnonymousInactiveYeah for fulltime care about 1000-1200…Alana goes 3 days though. Family Day Care they call it here…its usually about 1/2 (but if they get sick you have no backup and we have no family locally so we opted for centre based care…).
