Thank you all so much for all of your help. I listened to what you had to say and Getting my 7 mos old off the reglan has made a world of difference. I spoke with the kids gastro doc today because my 3 year old is still vomiting and today there was more blood in it. (See “Help 3 yr old vomiting Blood)The response I got was that he doesn’t want to see him, and that he wants him off the reglan (thank god!!!) AND off the prevacid. And wants him on prilosec ( hasn’t told me the dosage yet). I have no idea what this will do! And at this point every time he switches the meds I have a half used bottle of very expensive medicine and I’m supposed to go buy another. When I requested that they just prescribe a 2 week supply until we see if it works they told me that wasn’t possible. I am really starting to get frustrated. Thanks for any suggestions. PS: What will prilosec do different than prevacid???
everone reacts to one PPI or another…Jonah was on prilosec first, and then he was maxed out on it for his weight- the doctor (ped GI), who prescribed pretty ‘high’ doses for infants (unlike a lot I’ve read about here!) wouldn’t go any higher on the prilosec, so switched to prevacid. It did the trick.
I’ve read here that some do better with nexium and some do better with protonix…it seems to be trial & error
