Measuring the Ph of spit up on a ph strip

Does anyone know how accurate this test method is? The Ped GI recommended this test over a Ph probe test. Test came back normal (5-7 range) but the pediatrician thinks that saliva may nuetralize the acid and therefore make the test unreliable?

Any experience?

I would agree with the saliva might neutralize the acid as it is a natural antacid…that is why we try to get them to take the pacifier as it does help some….. I am curious what info you get though….

“Well is the spit up is fresh then it will be accurate. Has to spit up – not saliva.”

but what is his point? some of the spit ups are going to be acidic and some are not.
