UPDATE!

Since beginning soy a week ago, Carson has shown improvement. We are hoping this is not just a honeymoon period.

No spit up

sleeping a bit more

not quite as fussy all day

trying to poop on his own

way less gas, but still has more than normal

We are going to give it 2 more weeks and see where we are. From where we stand, I think he would still benefit from a Neocate trial. At least that way we will know for sure. We go to the local GI November 5th, so we are hoping to hold on until then.

Just FYI, our GI (one of the top GIs at our best children’s hospital) told us that sometimes the only signs of MSPI he sees is constipation and irritability. He said it’s not as common as diarrhea, but sometimes they see constipation as well.

Hi kelly, even babies without any allergy, will be constipated/ having the bm slow down by soy milk.
my dd doesn’t have any allergy to milk or soy (but my hubby and I are lactose intolerance, we kinda afraid to give dd milk base, we are soy family), but her bm a bit firmer on soy, but since she still get breastmilk, I think it help her bm more regular.
So it Carson, doing good in soy, just stick with it, since neocate taste disgusting.
Give him water or watering down the formula a bit are helping with the constipation.
