AVOID Dr. Edith Pilzer at Scottish Rite Atlanta, GA
Acknowledged Reflux, but downplayed it….called him a “fussy infant.” Difficult to talk to, disregarded questions (especially related to testing), made some ridiculous recommendations, would not give Neocate prescription
Feel free to send me a PM, if you have other questions

January 16, 2007 at 9:17 pm #22506AnonymousInactiveIt took us 2 tries but we finally found a good pedi GI Dr. Judy Splawski at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland,OH. We saw one at The Cleveland Clinic where my other daughter sees a GI at but he would only dose Abby 5mg of Prevacid and never mentioned Neocate!!!! What the heck is that going to do for her???? Got rid of him right away!!
Andrea
Update 5/17/07: Just got off the phone with this GI and she was so rude to me!! I had Abby tested for intolerances and I think she was offended b/c I had done my own research. So now we are looking for another GI.

He is actually married to my OB— small world!!!
He is in Connecticut at Children’s Medical Center in Hartford. His name is Dr Anthony Repucci. He works with the GI group at the hospital. One of the other Dr’s is Dr/ Heniz……..
Hope this helps! I really like his attitude. He is proactive but very laid back. He listens to all of my complaints. Even when I am feeling like I maybe overeacting.
Anyone can PM me if they want!

Dr Peter Swarr at Coolsprings Internal medicine 376-8195
He is not our dr, but in the same practice as our dr and he is actually the one along with dr Phillips that got Justice dr to prescribe the right dose of zegerid. He is willing to learn and really listens to his patients as well as really respects his patients doing their own research. He is a family dr.

I would definantly still recommend Dr. Swarr. He is now not only my
boys dr, but he is now our family dr. too. I can’t remember him ever
rushing me, but you can always let him know on the front end as soon
as he walks or when you make the appt. that you have a lot to say and
have a lot of questions. I know he might try to get you to do an h2
blocker first, but if you go in with the marci-kids info I think he
will be more likely to do the ppi and possibly even zegerid. I would
be very suprised though if he told you to let your baby outgrow it. I
think he has seen enough adult patients dealing with it that he knows
how painful it can be. It always suprises me when I hear about a dr.
tellling a parent to let a baby outgrow. I mean they would NEVER say
that to an adult. As a matter of fact they take an adult having reflux
very seriously. I will say though that we have had our first sons ped
tell us to let him outgrow the reflux and do no meds. Actually all
of what your doing now is exactly what our fist sons ped recommended. I
wouldn’t be suprised at all if your even seeing the same ped that we
saw. Please pm me if you need any help. It is my mission to help as
many moms and babies going through this as I possibly can. Dr. Swarr’s
number is 376-8195 and you can let him know that I recommended you. My
real name is Rochelle Myers. I’m not sure if that would help or not,
but it’s worth a shot. Please let me know how it goes if you do go see
him.hellbennt2009-11-22 20:21:44
April 13, 2007 at 3:28 pm #30435AnonymousInactiveNORTH CAROLINA (Winston Salem & Cary)Dr. William Satterwhite at Forsyth Pediatrics at Medical Park in Winston-Salem, NC. He has been so supportive, listens, and is/was willing to adjust Ben’s medication according to the research I found from Marci-Kids. He even calls you back!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[this is laura, moderator adding this from page 11:]CARY NORTH CAROLINADr. Cythnia Young Cary Healthcare Associates Cary, NC she stated in the QA event that I went to on Saturday that she follows guidelines from a university, I basically shouted out Marci Kids with joy! and she agreed we spoke after and she is going to start seeing all three of my kidshellbennt2012-01-08 19:25:08
April 28, 2007 at 5:36 pm #31733AnonymousInactiveIf you are in Florida, please beware of Pediatric Gastro in Temple Terrace, Tampa. I saw Dr. Ignacio but spoke mostly to a student that is studying there. It is very close to a college campus and students do most of the legwork. It is very frustrating to speak solely to students and then get 5 minutes with the GI doctor. Also, if you call them, the student calls you back! It is also impossible to get a marci-kids dose. Beware! Travel anywhere else but here…

I saw Dr. Ian Lebowitz of Inova Ped Gastro (I think that was the name) He didn’t prescribe the marci-kid dose initialy, but when I told him I wanted to up it to 30mgs, he said that was fine and he wrote the prescription for that. It could be worth a try. The number is 703-698-8960. The website is

May 15, 2007 at 4:55 pm #33333AnonymousInactiveYanab,
I’m pretty sure Emily’s little girl was on the Prevacid solutabs (30 mgs). Hopefully she’ll see this and post for you.
Good luck with Dr. Lebowitz. I hope you get an appointment without too long of a wait and I hope he helps your little one.
May 16, 2007 at 3:03 pm #33433AnonymousInactivehey yanab,
Yes, Dr. Lebowitz had heard of Zegerid…but we didn’t end up getting a prescription for that from him. He was however, very good with dosages and stuff to let us try. I hope he works out well for you too.
