i stuck my foot in my mouth so far the other night—but i have giggled about it ever since!

several years ago, leif went out with some girl briefly, and i remember him telling me, after they were no longer together, that she had ended up naked and drunk in the ditch–i assume in her car. i did not even remember what this girl looked like, what her name was, where she worked, or whatever happened to her, nor was the ditch story on the top of my list of important things to remember.

i needed to go to the store where leif works the other night, but i was a little too medicated to drive, so i asked leif to take me—-remember, i talk too much on drugs.

when we were in the check out line, the checker was this gorgeous gal who looked at leif and told him she had gotten arrested the night before for driving without a license—and out of nowhere, i said,”at least you weren’t naked in a ditch.” leif said, “mom” kind of quietly at first—and i blabbed on. leif said, “mom” a little louder, as i blabbed on. finally, he said, “mom, drop it.”

as we were leaving the store, he says, “that was her.”

the next day he shows me a text message on his phone that says, “so, your mom didn’t know she was talking about me?” leif told her no. then she asked him if he told me it was her. he said, “i’m lying to her.” he wasn’t about to tell her he had told me.

i have no idea why that came out of my mouth because i haven’t even thought about it in ages. i guess it’s just part of a mother’s job to embarrass her children!!!!

like for one thing, why is she telling Leif about getting arrested in front of his MOTHER?? and if she didn’t know you were his mother, STILL…

leif says she will walk away from her cash register for a minute and he will turn off her light and turn on a light at a different cash register. he said she will mess around trying to get her cash register (or the one with the light on) to work for about 5 minutes before she figures it out.

he had the same opinion as you about telling people you just got arrested. but, he told me she got arrested the next night for the exact same thing. i think she kept getting pulled over because she had a broken tail light.

i was telling tracy this story because i thought it was so funny. before i got very far, she asked what the girls name was. when i told her, she said she knew i was going to say that name because her nephew had dated this gal and knew she was an airhead. i guess she comes by it honestly, though. her mother called tracy’s aunt and said, “my daughter says you have a problem with your son spending the night at our house.”

uh, yeah!!!

these are active church going parents—i think. i guess the mom is an air head, too. tracy said this gal is the reason her nephew didn’t go on a mission—too much nooky, i guess.

the young gal is married now, but i guess her husband has beaten her and she took out a restraining order, but has told tracy that they still date, they just have to be careful not to get caught or i guess they will both get arrested.

leif tells me she is not dumb, she just doesn’t have any common sence. sounds like the apple didn’t fall very fall from the tree.

i feel kind of guilty—like i am gossiping, but no one knows who these people are, heck, i don’t even know the girl’s last name, i just think the whole thing is funny in a kind of ridiculously sad way.

i hope she gets it all together at some point—-and in the meantime, i’m avoiding her check-out line any time i can!!!!
