July 3, 2008 at 4:07 pm #53366AnonymousInactiveSorry if this is redundant of some of my other posts, but I’m just so frustratedI’m on day 5 of TED & Evan’s diapers & sleeping are worse than ever. I hate to be impatient but…His diapers are entirely mucous. You can now see streaks of blood in them (starting today)…never had that before (besides hemoccults).1 out of 5 hemoccults yesterday were positive. FOUR out of 5 were positive today.I just don’t know what to do. I suspect it’s either solutabs, rice or both.No word from ped’s office re: capsules (I faxed yesterday & left 2 messages today). No word yet from marci-kids & how I’m supposed to get the caracream (I followed up w/ an email to Dr. Phillip’s collegue this morning). He also threw up entire feeding today after nursing… no clue if it’s related or what, but still. Odd since he’s ‘silent reflux’ & rarely spits/throws up.Sorry for venting, but I’m @ a loss right now.

The day we got of the solutabs, things really turned a corner. Naps were still hard for McKenzie (but that could be from so many things) but night sleep was WAY better and fussiness was WAY better and mucous was gone shortly thereafter. Just keep on the Drs…call and call until someone will call you back.
Good luck!
July 3, 2008 at 5:03 pm #53370hellbenntKeymasterok maybe it’s everything clearing out of her system? maybe it’s the rice?
can you ask your own dr about the pancrease?
Emily, did you wind up taking it?I have the article here…July 3, 2008 at 8:54 pm #53377AnonymousInactiveOk, I’m feeling a bit better.
Ped called my cell @ 6pm to discuss the capsules. He agreed to call in the script so we have those. Still waiting on correspondence w/ Dr. Phillip’s collegue, but we will start capsules tomorrow. I will try them for the remaining 2wks of TED (9 days) & then if still no change I’ll try taking out rice. Hopefully we’re almost there.I meant to ask my OB about the pancrease @ my 6 wk post partum appt a few days ago… but I totally forgot. Did they work for you Emily?July 3, 2008 at 9:32 pm #53381AnonymousInactiveOh Gosh, Erin! I wonder what it is… hopefully you will see some great results once he’s off the solutabs.. keep us posted.
July 4, 2008 at 8:47 am #53392hellbenntKeymasterok I googled & from here: http://www.mothering.com/discussions/archive/index.php/t-656225.html
found this: digestive enzymes are taken to break down the protiens in the food that you eat. In a nursing mom, it would used to break up the protiens before they get into your milk. There have been studies done, one called RESOLUTION OF STOOL BLOOD IN BREAST-FED INFANTS WITH MATERNAL INGESTION OF PANCREATIC ENZYMES, which found that by taking the enzymes, it helps resolve symptoms in allergic infants. It is also supposed to help with eczema. The study was done with Pancrease Mt4, a script enzyme, which I am taking, but I also rotate it with Complete Gest by enzymatic therapies, and those seem to work just as well. My son’s allergist wrote out the script for me after I brought in the study.THe non-script one that I take is called CompleteGest by Enzymatic Therapy. It has virtually the same components. It has really helped my son’s reactions and now that he is on solids, I just mix a 1/2 cap in with his food. He was continuously developing new allergies and the enzymes have helped stop new ones. I order mine online either from http://www.iherb.com or http://www.wholesalesupplementstore.com, whichever place has them in stock. They are about $15 there, and I usually wind up ordering more than one, since we go through about two bottles a month.I can’t find the article for free- you have to pay[edited to say I have the article!]:ANDI Found this!! this is found towards the bottom, here: http://www.pregnancy.org/article.php?sid=639There is also a new treatment for very allergic babies. Suggest the mother ask her doctor about prescribing Pancrease-MT4 to be taken with meals. That can help break down the allergens to the point where the baby will not be affected even if the mother continues eating the offending foods. And this!July 4, 2008 at 1:36 pm #53406AnonymousInactiveErin: I hope today is going OK for you. I’m glad you reached your ped before the holiday weekend. I think you have a good plan of action – make one change at a time with a specific time frame in mind and the next step ready in front of you. With so many things out of your control, it is amazing how having a plan and a schedule can help you survive the current issues (crying baby, lack of sleep, etc.).
How are YOU doing on the TED? Everyone is always focused on the baby but don’t forget about yourself. If you are needing a dessert (before you possibly take rice out of your TED), you can make rice pudding or even rice crispy treats (using brown rice syrup instead of marshmallow). There are recipes for both of those in older posts in the TED area, I think. If not, I’ll try to find them for you.Hang in there!!!!DianneJuly 4, 2008 at 4:02 pm #53410AnonymousInactiveLaura- you are A-W-E-S-O-M-E… thanks so much. I will consider talking w/ my OB about this (I’m assuming that’s who I talk with?) & maybe I’ll order the non-script stuff in the meantime. I’m a bit overwhelmed w/ all the “factors” @ this point. I really really appreciate all the info though.
Dianne- I’m doing fine on TED I think. Haven’t gotten too bored yet-lol & definitely haven’t been tempted to eat anything else. I was going to make some rice pudding sometime this weekend – it sounds pretty good.I’ll keep you all updated… I know you’re on the edge of your seats wondering what’s in Evan’s diapersHappy 4th of JulyJuly 4, 2008 at 9:01 pm #53414AnonymousInactiveOK, sorry it has taken me so long to respond…the fourth was kind of crazy around here, and yesterday afternoon we were busy with a party we had for my daughter to throw out her diapers (yeah! Brianna is finally potty trained. :-).) I am taking the pancreatic enzymes…I don’t really know if they are doing anything, but I started on a kind of rotation diet with the things I had been eliminating ( long story, probably for another post) and so far I haven’t had any super negatives happen, no blood or mucous or sleepless nights or anything. I have been wondering about the rice myself, but I have been giving McKenzie rice cereal for a month now and she still has been sleeping OK. You are doing great, but my gut tells me the capsules will help you out a LOT…like I said, we had a different baby in two days after starting the compounded prevacid. Good luck and feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.
