How can you tell if they get an ear infection after they have tubes? Is it only evidenced by ear drainage? Ben doesn’t have this, but he is acting just like he does/did when he had ear infections. No fever, but he never had this either.

I had the ped check her ears because she was tugging at one of them and there was no infection. I asked a girl at work about her daughter’s tubes and she said that her little girl had two ear infections without drainage. I was told by her(Danika) ENT that she would have drainage when she ever got a ear infection. So go figure.
I hope Ben gets better for you. I like the new picture.stcwatt2007-11-30 15:27:55

He seems fine today though, and slept well last night, so I’m hoping it was just those pesky teeth. It seems like he has a good day followed by a bad one. It’s going to be awhile still, but I’ll be glad when those teeth are in!
And thanks, Stacey. Can you tell he’s saying “cheese” for the camera?!Bensmama2007-12-01 14:52:55

The ones without drainage she did get a temperature with and very irritable she had cold symptoms, really bad runny/stuffy noses causing her to cough and gag on the mucous.

we also got a double ear infections after tubes, with no drainage. Our NT said if we have one more infcetion, he wanted to do a culturrel. We haven’t have nay repeat ones so far.I hope is just his teeth and he feels better soon.LeoDecember 5, 2007 at 8:01 am #46139AnonymousInactiveWe did too with Dylan. There was so much gook (can’t think of a better word) that it was blocking the tubes. I mixed a small amount of mineral oil and water and warmed it just a bit and then put some in Dylan’s ears and it helped clear away the blockage and relieve the pressure so it was not as painful. I, of course, would speak with your doctor before doing anything, but this helped with Dylan. I think he got two (can’t remember now) double ear infections after the tubes, and this helped both times.
Hang in there!!
