this is really annoying me….sorry i have to make this fast dont have much time….
i was reading parents magazine i think it was the Jan. issue in our docs office. there was a little column about infant reflux. it basically said that medicating it is useless because “at current doses” it is ineffective.
UGH!
why is DR PHILLIPS and a few other docs the ONLY people that understand the whole metabolism thing in infants?
it makes me so mad bc what if a new mom with a reflux baby read that and now she is hopeless? its sad! i want the marci kids info to spread already!AND our ped told me that the other day she went to a conference in atlanta on infant reflux. never once did they mention PPI’s. they basically made it sound like its just something they have to “grow out of” and theres nothing that can be done.
poor babies
February 6, 2007 at 9:20 pm #24250AnonymousInactiveThat is the whole reason I want Oprah to do a story on it. All these Drs. think they know best. Well, let them come live in my home for a few days and nights. Babies are supposed to outgrow reflux at 9 months and Justice isn’t there yet. I am already going mad. I can’t imagine him not being on meds at all. If I get the time I am going to e-mail the parents magazine.

February 7, 2007 at 12:53 pm #24280AnonymousInactiveMost GI’s follow the protocol for treating reflux of the North American Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition. I’ve contacted them a few times and referred them to Marci-kids and Dr. Phillips, explaining the problems with underdosing or neglecting infant reflux. I’ve yet to receive a reply.
February 7, 2007 at 1:01 pm #24282AnonymousInactiveDo you think it would help if we all wrote to our local newspapers or news stations? I wonder if any of them would do a story on it. Not as big as Oprah, but it would be a start…
February 7, 2007 at 1:08 pm #24283AnonymousInactiveIt’s so frustrating and sad. I keep hoping that one day Prevacid will be available OTC like some of the H2 Blockers are now. That will be a saving grace to so many parents. Just buy the stuff and follow Dr. Phillip’s recommendations.
February 7, 2007 at 1:16 pm #24284AnonymousInactiveI have thought about also contacting Dateline, 60 mins, etc. All those big shows. I want as many moms as possible to be able to see it. By the way, I don’t know if 60 min is still on. I just couldn’t think of the others.
February 7, 2007 at 1:30 pm #24288AnonymousInactive60 minutes is still on…..I think Sunday evening.
I think one of the best places to do a story on Infant Reflux would be one of those medical shows that are geared to doctors.
http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/house.call/ Here’s one called House Calls with Dr. Sanjay Gupta. Anyone want to write to them?
Actually I’m not sure if House Calls is geared towards docs or patients, but there are medical shows that are definitely geared towards docs. I used to see them on Sunday mornings. I’ll see if I can find any of them….and I’ll post them if I do.
