What the heck.!!!!??? I swear some places are so barbarick in there care of people. I kind of still work for a hospital and we have been computer only for about 3 yrs now. We are a sort of small facility but have many other components to our hospital system so even though the hospital itself is less than 500 beds (which probably isn’t all that small) we were behind on computer charting for a long time. All of my work related notes have been computer done since I started working in 2001 but we just got a more updated better system 3 yrs ago. So really they haven’t lost the records they just don’t want to get caught. I would talk to the medical director and or the director of nursing and start at the top and not mess around with everyone else. Good luck I am glad you have found someone who will look into what is going on.

I’d threaten legal action if they don’t produce her medical records pronto! They did not lose those records. They are hiding them.Good luck and please keep us posted.April 12, 2008 at 9:58 am #50237AnonymousInactiveYah, Cooper’s mom is right. There has to be a way to get those records that are mysteriously missing. Skip all the middle men and get the TOP of this!

I’m just reading all of this now!YOU ARE THE BEST MAMA EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I would THREATEN with the MEDIA!!! do you ahve a friend or family member who’s a lawyer? well, threaten w/ one anyway!!!April 15, 2008 at 8:32 pm #50401AnonymousInactiveWell, my brother-in-laws’ Aunt is a medical malpractice lawyer, I told my sister all of this, and she called the Aunt who is running Bassett Healthcare’s Pediatric dept’s public records for malpractice suits…? Anyway, I went to Bassett, who flip flopped for a little bit, but said that Bassett Hospital (Which I pulled my daughter out of over A MONTH ago) was still scheduling appts for her, and that her records from 2 months on were sent to pediatric cardiology… I told them I have contacted a lawyer, and that I’ll be back tomorrow for those records, I want 2 copies, 1 for my home, and 1 to give to the geneticist. I told them I WILL be completely looking over those records before leaving, and if I find anything missing… so help me, God… you get the idea. But on a lighter note, Andy’s been eating much better, although she doesn’t look like she’s gained weight 🙁 Hopefully, this geneticist/metabolic disorders Dr. finds something that clues us in on what we are dealing with… Thank you all again for letting me vent.
April 16, 2008 at 12:53 pm #50423AnonymousInactiveOMG! I’m just catching this. I’m SO SO SORRY! You are such a strong wonderful mom and your dd is so lucky to have you fighting for her!
I would also threaten with the media… that always gets people’s attention! If you haven’t done so already, I would go to or call the health records department at the hospital and ask for copies of everything they have on her file. I work in a hospital, and you can’t actually “lose” recordds. Once the patient leaves the hospital, the paper chart is sent down to health records and stored there. The ONLINE chart, stays in the computer system for up to 6 years. You can’t purge it. It’s always in there. Tell them that you also want a copy of all of her online records, in addition to her paper file, and if you don’t receive the copies that you requested within a reasonable time frame that you will be bringing your lawyer and alerting the media. You can also go to the president CEO department of the hospital as well as the patient care representative and present an official complaint and a list of demands.I will be thinking of you and your little girl, and praying for good answers that can help her. Please keep us all posted. HUGS.s&h’s mum2008-04-16 12:54:53
April 16, 2008 at 1:50 pm #50426AnonymousInactiveHoly COW! What a stinkin mess. Way to go on demanding they find those records. That is amazing to me that they try to pull junk like that. It does sound though like you all are finally moving in the right direction. I will keep you and your dd in my thoughts and prayers.
