Does it get worse before it got better?July 8, 2008 at 11:15 pm #53590AnonymousInactiveHUGS to you! I totally remember feeling this way. Thank God I found this site when I did. Seriously, I would contact your OB and get some type of anti-depression meds. They can be a lifesaver. It is totally natural to get depressed from all of this. Who wouldn’t? The 2 best things to do are to 1. get out by yourself (or with friends or dh) NO BABY. I know, easier said than done right? 2. sleep whenever your baby sleeps. If your baby is sleeping DO NOT do laundry, clean, water the yard, etc. SLEEP SLEEP SLEEP!
I think it all depends on your definition of “worse”. To me, reflux is an ever evolving thing. Some parts get better, then some get worse. Then everything seems really good, then its bad again. Kind of like a rollercoaster. My ds is only 7 months, but there are LOTS of moms on here whose babies no longer have reflux, no longer take meds. Hang in there! Vent anytime. Here are some “feel good” things to read:kdub2008-07-08 23:17:38
July 8, 2008 at 11:38 pm #53591AnonymousInactivewow, you sound like I did when I started the reflux rollercoaster. I’m almost positive now that I had some post partum depression/anxiety that was greatly exacerbated by my daughter’s condition.
It DOES get better, but odds are it will get a little worse first. It’ll take a while to find the right med/formula combination. You’ll have to find the right doc that is willing to listen to you. It took us 8 months to get all our ducks in a row and get the help Gabby really needed. I’m expecting my 2nd in October and while I’m terrified, I’m armed with info that will help should this happen again. You are on the right track coming to this message board. It was a lifesaver for me.
My DD finally went off meds last month at 22 months. Most kids don’t take this long. I hope your child will improve sooner than later. Good luck.
