We’ve had a horrible past few days and I’m not sure what’s going on.
First all the trouble with getting the Dr’s to give us dosing that’s on par with Marci-Kids. Long story but as some of you may know I originally (and incorrectly) got a dose for Prevacid of one 7.5mg SoluTab once a day. I immediately gave 7.5 twice a day knowing that wasn’t enough, so I went “over the helmet” so to speak right off the bat. Then I finally got it upped to twice a day but by this time we needed an increase anyway, so I was hoping for 15mg twice a day but nobody would prescribe it. I do have an appt with a new doc for Monday, and am fully prepared to walk if I don’t get what I want, and I also have a backup plan of going back to the first doc and asking for a referral to the GI specialists. I’m just SO pissed that I have to jump thru hoops and totally feel for the moms who’ve gone down this route before.
In the meantime I was also testing out a suspected MSPI and she was on Alimentum only (I was pumping to keep my supply up in case I could go back to BF) and about the 2-wk mark (both on the Prevacid and on the Alimentum) she started to do AWESOME. But that only lasted about a week. I then tried adding back the BM and she seemed to do fine. So we nursed and BF for about a week at which time she started going downhill again, so I tried upping the Prevacid (to 15mg 2x daily). After a week of that and no real change in the fussiness, I pulled her off BM again, and it’s been 3 days since she’s been on Alimentum only. I figure it’ll take another 2 weeks to get her to be happy again but OMG the crying/fussing. And then today, she had a horrible day, refluxing all day long, and even spitting up several times (she’s a silent refluxer). My poor sweet baby!
So I checked Marci-Kids again and I’m going to try doing 7.5mg THREE times daily. On a positive note, I just FOUND a trial-pack of 4 Prevacid Capsules (30mg) so I’m wondering if I can seperate those out to 3 doses and use them?
I wanted to vent more, and I know I had more to say, but it’s taken me about 2 hours to post just this because LO has been excessively needy today, and most recently threw up so had to have a bath.
