How many Ounces?

Ava is currently getting 4 oz of neocate with 1 tbsp of rice cereal. She is draining the 4 oz and eating every 2.5 hrs compared to 3. Should I up her to 5 oz or would it be too much? The GI doc told me back when she was six weeks, not to go over 4 oz, but she is almost 11 weeks. I do not want to overload her reflux. COuld sHe also could be hungrier during the day because she is sleeping better at night?

Does she still seem hungry at the end of the 4oz? What you could do is try 5oz maybe first thing in the morning when her tummy is more empty and see how she does. Gosh i don’t remember what Cooper was taking at that age, but i am pretty sure it was more than 4oz at a time, but all babies are different. I know at one point he was taking 44oz/day which isn’t the norm with reflux babies but my guy was/is a great eater.

neocate is thinner and moves faster through her body (not as fast as breastmilk but faster than typical formula), so I would maybe up it an ounce and se how Ava does. If she spits up a lot of it, or her reflux acts up because her tummy is too full, you will know and then you can back off a bit. She is going to be three months in a couple of weeks, so she may be able to handle a bit more.

sounds like she is eating like a champ! If she eats more during the day and sleeps better at night, then HOORAY!!
