We have United HealthCare and it’s excellent. The co-pay for the Ped GI is $15 and they cover 100% of Neocate. It is through my husband’s employer. However, if you are purchasing your own insurance, I believe that GER will be considered a pre-existing condition??? I agree with the pp, I think there are some good Medicaid dr’s around, but you just need to find the right one. Do you have straight Medicaid or a Medicaid HMO, b/c many doc’s around here only take straight Medicaid. Find a Dr. you like and see what Medicaid insurance they take. If you switch before the 15th, you can have new insurance by June 1.

We would love to be on medicaid but we get turned down b/c we have insurance. The drs that we go to accept medicaid but we do live in a good dr area-near children’s hospital
May 7, 2007 at 12:50 pm #32486AnonymousInactiveWe have had Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance and also Sanford Health Care Insurance. We have copays of $25 each visit and we pay 20% of any procedure/lab done. Our Neocate is not covered — even after appealing to both insurance companies. TnBEich2007-5-7 12:52:13
May 7, 2007 at 1:24 pm #32491AnonymousInactiveCan your husband (self employed) set himself up as an LLC? This way he could “pay” you as his bookeeper, or something, and if your company has two employees (yourself and your husband) you may be able to get like a work coverage plan? That way it is like individual insurance with the benefits of a group work plan……
Maybe something to consider or ask your tax advisor/accountant about.
May 7, 2007 at 2:36 pm #32506AnonymousInactivemy husband is self employed and does have an llc as well, but his business partner doesn’t want benefits because his wife’s company pays for thiers 100%. We are lucky that we were just able to get benefits through an HMO (I know HMO kind of sucks, but it is better than nothing) company (not medicaid). Ann Marie, I like your idea…I am going to have to mention it to DH.
May 9, 2007 at 2:53 pm #32721AnonymousInactiveI’m sorry you are having insurance issues. We are supposed to have excellent insurance (regular ins through my DH’s employer), and we do have “good” insurance and even I am having a rough time finding a good GI and getting Landen on a good dose of a PPI drug. I am in the Neocate battle right now as well. Our insurance will cover it but you REALLY have to push them and they didn’t OFFER to cover it, I found a “loophole” in our policy. It has taken me 9 billion phone calls and LOTS of headaches. I finally told them if they didn’t cover it, I would have no choice but to feed him a cheap formula and he would soon be hospitalized and be fed Neocate at the hospital and they would be footing the bill anyway, that got them going…
I wish you luck finding a good Dr. I know it can be hard! Hang in there!
