My little man is 7 weeks old and after several tests by the pediatric GI doc, he was diagnosed with MSPI.. he throws up everything and cries all the time… He has now been placed on Elecare formula for 5 days now and i have not seen any improvement.. hes throwing that up as well and still screaming ALL the time…. Im so frustrated, i just want him to feel better.. how long will this stuff take to work?????

Is he on any medications at all? Something to help reduce the amount of acid in his stomach may help with his pain from refluxing. If the doctor suspects the vomiting/reflux is due to the MSPI, hopefully this will improve as the proteins are cleared from his system but that could take up to a couple of weeks. In terms of the gut healing from the MSPI, that could take up to a few months to fully happen, but hopefully your little guy is showing much improvement before then.

I had to call 911 today because he burped and threw up and it had phlem in it and it clogged his airways and he choked and stopped breathing… im so sick of this … im so worried about my baby…

That’s so scary, I hope he feels better soon. My dd’s MSPI horrible rash improved after about 10 days but it took almost 3 weeks for the vomiting and stomach pains/heartburn pain to subside. She was also on a high dose of losec though, so it was probably a combination of the 2 things working well together at the same time. Could you ask your doc for something to calm the stomach acid? A ppi?

I found that every day just seemed to be a little better for my dd after 10 days on the formula or so, not a huge change happened overnight but maybe 15 minutes less crying one day and one less vomiting spell the next and it went that way until one day I realized “Hey, she hasn’t puked yet…and it’s 6pm!!!” After that point she did great.
