October 11, 2006 at 4:12 am #15368AnonymousInactiveWell I have to go see the dr again next week (if i can get a lift as can’t hack taking her on the train and tube again) as shes not getting any better on the diet or medication
The nights are getting difficult now, last night she refused to feed again and screamed until i could calm her then she fell asleep. Between 8pm and 10.30pm she woke 3 times and then another 2 times. Then when she woke at 5am she couldn’t get back to sleep as she was in to much pain.
The thing is when the reflux gets really bad she sweats and gets really hot. She sweats so much it is dripping off her head and will leave a wet mark on the bed. She barely sleeps in the day now unless i sleep with her and even then its not for long. Does anyone elses baby sweat like this??
She is making this funny noise in her throat again, last time she did it within a few days she had a cold. She is coughing and sneezing more than normal. Her last cold lasted 10 days and only went 2 weeks ago so i’m not sure if shes getting ill again or if it is/was teething?? But no teeth yet
She is just so uncomfy and is jerking and jumping when refluxing.
Even a girl at the baby club we go to mentioned how tired she looked as she has dark circles under her eyes.
I’m starting to worry there might be something else wrong with her, I don’t want to put her through invasive tests but in a way i do so i know whats going on.
She DEF seems to be getting worse the older she gets which i can’t understand, aprt from she is more active now so i guess it doesn’t help the refluxIt doesn’t help when my OH asked his mum if her boyfriend could give us a lift she then said ‘is it worth taking her again to see the dr as its so expensive and she will grow out of the reflux’OH was not happy and pretty much hung up on her!!!If only people could witness her pain they would soon change their minds, plus she might not grow out of it for another year or maybe never who knows??kkmum 2006-10-11 4:13:0 October 11, 2006 at 12:54 pm #15410AnonymousInactiveThere’s another mom here whose baby sweats profusely. I’m sure she will respond when she sees this.
I’m sorry things are still so difficult. Have you tried getting her omepazole increased? My son was one of those babies who did not improve until he was on the high dose that http://www.marci-kids.com recommends. As soon as he was on their recommeneded dose (10mg/3x’s daily) things turned around for him.

We went through that for along time too, I finally had to play around with the dose on my own. Have you tried that? Also, the fact that she had a sensitive system played a huge role in the reflux. Her formulas were irritating it, and some solids made it worse too. She was so constipated from a slow moving system- she felt better once things were moving faster after they prescribed a laxitive called miralax. Ryann never did the sweating thing, I would call the doctor and demand something be done. It may be time to do some of the testing if you really feel something more is going on. Trust your instincts- you know your baby best! Hang in there and lots of hugs to you and baby!

During the day her hair is often dripping wet. She constantly smells sour because of it. Our doc had nothing to say about it, and our GI didn’t either. Sorry I have no good advice to tell you about it, if you look it up there was a thread on it a while back. I’ll try to find it for you.
If she’s still doing so badly can you see if your doc will give her a try at 30 mg- that was the dose that seemed to have helped Hailey a bit. Can’t remember if you tried it already. Not that it helped her sleep at all.
We only did the scope and the UGI, not the probe, but the scope really wasn’t as bad as I thought. In fact, it kind of gave me some peace of mind that at least I knew her esophagus wasn’t still damaged.
Hang in there. I hope that your daughter can get some relief.
October 11, 2006 at 1:50 pm #15419AnonymousInactiveMatthew sweat so much both at night and during/after feedings that we had to get his heart checked by the cardiologist – the ped heard a rumour after we discussed all of the sweating – the cardiologist said that he did indeed have a murmur but it should not be the cause of the sweating – so they just attributed it to being super tense all of the time… it has now kind of disappear but i still find him in a poodle of sweat at night sometimes – i jsut move him to anothe spot so that he does not get all wet adn get a cold.
