A new Dr. I started taking my son to has said that in her 30 years of experience his reflux symptoms match that of what happens after the baby gets the Hep B vaccine.
I think he may have gotten it at birth. And then 3 times after.
Has anyone heard of this???
TIA!

It is so hard to know what is good and what is not good information on the vaccines. It is a difficult topic that can cause some controversy, but I will tell you that Dylan’s symptoms started some time in the NICU close to his due date, but after the Hep B. There are a lot of babies here that came out refluxing Literally…. so they had not been exposed yet. There can be a lot of reasons, hereditary, immature LES, etc… so I think it can be really hard to pinpoint the “reason”…….
Hang in there! Hopefully things are getting better for you!!!Ann MarieOctober 13, 2009 at 10:06 am #64217AnonymousInactiveI didn’t know babies got the heb B vaccine? I don’t think they get it here until later into public school.

I am a bit up in arm over that. Not the vaccine itself, but how early they get it. I guess there is a big risk for unprotected sex and sharing drug needles even at the first day of life! Don’t get me started……..
October 13, 2009 at 11:32 am #64222AnonymousInactiveYes, vaccines are out of control here. At 6 weeks old he received 8 vaccines! My poor guys system is so out of whack!
October 13, 2009 at 12:55 pm #64227AnonymousInactiveThat’s awful!! I thought we were bad over here! Actually, those of you who know me know that I’m for vaccines, but I’m so scared with this swine flu thing. I’m not terribly interested in having my child part of the guinea-pig generation for a new vaccine.
October 13, 2009 at 2:20 pm #64232AnonymousInactiveWhy did he get shots at only 6wks old? I was under the impression that other than the hep b that they give prior to hospital discharge that they don’t get shots until their 2 month check up… 8wks is early but 6 wks is too early!
October 13, 2009 at 2:49 pm #64237AnonymousInactiveExactly! 6 weeks was two weeks too soon. It was a military hospital so I guess they can get away with it. Apparently military vaccinates heavily which explains why he got 8!

and what are the symptoms of hep b side effects??October 14, 2009 at 11:55 am #64248AnonymousInactiveYes, this is exactly how I feel. WTF is the matter with them? I am pissed, but it was a military hospital so I don’t think there is anything that can be done about it.

If you look at CDC’s website, 6 would have been the MOST, at 2 MONTHS though. You may want to talk to your Ped. Something sounds off here, like he was given the WRONG(too many) shots.
Also, depending on where you’re located(which military facility)…you have the option of opting for a delayed vaccine schedule. Your Ped should be able to provide you w/the info. We were doing that up until recently when the clinic in our location changed their policy to “ALL or NOTHING.”
