My son is just 6 monts, and he’s MSPI, and BFed, with the occasional Nutramigen bottle. He also on Prevacid, although I’m not positive he still needs it. His MSPI has improved ver the sat few months, and while. It’s still there, it’s much less irritating to him. The biggest issue we have is that milk and soy gives him horribly stinky gas and tends to back him up.
We started him on solids this past week with oatmeal, as I was afraid rice might back him up. Unfortunately, oatmeal seems to have backed him up though. We’ve given it to him 3 times in the past 6 days, and he hasn’t pooped in 6 days, (typically he only goes every other day anyway).
At this point I’m going to stop the oatmeal until he poops again, but once that happens, I’m not really sure how to start on solids after that. Should I be starting with something different? I’ve heard it’s ok to start with fruits or veggies, but I’m nervous to do that, since it goes against conventional wisdom. I don’t really have an idea of where to turn for more answers about how to introduce solids.
I’d love any advice, thanks!

Try keywords starting solids but choose 6 months and OLDER
Really there’s no reason to start with cereals
And there’s no reason to star with purées either
Do a search of: the cons of purées
Again, going back 6 months or even a year
Another search is:
Baby led solids
Again going back 6 months or older
You can do this! I’ve written a lot about this topic, it’s all here

We had orange and green spots all over the carpet. 🙁 I stuck with just the basic fruits and vegetables for a long time. In fact, I basically never let them have table food until they were a year because so much table food has dairy in it. And I knew I was safe with the canned fruits and veggies.
With Shiloh, I always mixed in a half of a Digestive Health pill every time I gave her baby food. She never had a problem with it and in fact she got to the point where she thought baby food tasted terrible without the pill in it. 🙂
Are you near a dairy? I have found that Shiloh does much better with fresh dairy milk because it still has the enzymes in it needed to break it down. Soon we hope to get a milk goat as goat milk is much easier to digest than cow’s milk. You can buy goats milk at many stores. If you are needing to cook with milk, there are many options other than cow’s you can try. Like goats, rice, or almond.
Just some of my ideas!
