We are on Neocate and our dtr was having major issues pooping. She had tons of gas and was always trying to poop with little success. She would cry, sputter, kick and fuss during her feeds (in addition to her reflux related responses). The doc said that with the elemental stuff, it is so pre-digested that after being digested in the gut, there is very little left over. Thus, getting the poop out is really tough for the little ones. (Ours is 6 weeks.) He said to use a suppository every time she was fussy during a feed (up to 12 times a day!) to give her something to bear down on. It has made a huge difference for our girl. We don’t need one every time anymore, but we did have to use one for each feed at the start of this program. She doesn’t have gas anymore and isn’t nearly as fussy during her feeds.
