Going to the Operating Room

They are finally doing some more indepth tests on Cayden. We were at the doctor yesterday and because he becomes VERY raspy and chokes on his own saliva, they are finally going to do more to help him. But when is the issue. It will be done any time in the next 2 to 6 weeks (if not longer). It’s the ENT doctor, he says they are going to scope him to check for ANY abnormality or inflammed problems. Doing a swallow test (FINALLY), and they are going to try to get the GI doctor there to do some checking too. I wish I didn’t forget my pen and paper (hubby was in a minor car accident, so we left in a big rush) so I could have written down the names of the tests. I’m just worried and scared. The doctor also mentioned that if there is a problem in his throat where things are not spaced properly they can give him an injection to space them out better.

I am glad that htey are finally going to be helping Cayden out!!! I know the test may seem scary, but from what my GI doctor told me (we had the scopes done with my first daughter) they are a pretty common procedure. These test may be kind of yucky for our LO’s but it is such a short time and the benefits can be major. Let us know when you have a date scheduled for the test!

I totally agree w/ Emily. We finally did upper & lower scopes w/ Evan (colonoscopy + EDG) @ 10wks old. It gave us answers & a better picture of what was going on. It’s scary for them to go under @ any age (my 1st had to be under @ 22mths old) but really this is what they do & if you’re worried talk to the anesth. & ask lots of questions. Good luck!

Thank you guys. Talking to people who have been through this with kids is so helpful. They are wanting to do the lower scope but ONLY if the GI doctor is available. It’s been 2 days and I still haven’t even heard when they are booking him. I’m hoping it’s not around Christmas…
