Its been a while since I checked in as we moved in to a diff apt. Just as an update, Anvita is a year old now and we tired formula switch to Good Start from Alimentum (I had to stop her completely off from breast milk last month due to my surgery and post -surgery medications). She did ok for 3 weeks and now in 4th week, she had her vaccinations (MMR and Chickenpox). Same day, she started having frequent poops. Though initally poops were not watery, they were more like curdy seedy poops when she was exclusively bf. Then, gradually they were more mucousy and now watery. She has tummy cramps, less appetite and is more clingy. Her sleep has always been bad, so no comparision now.
The Ped nurse feels it could be either formula upset or a bug and NOT due to vaccines. She wants me to switch her to full strength Alimentum immediately and try Good Start once things fully settle down.
How should I know whether its a bug or she has not yet outgrown her intolerance. Is it appropriate to switch her to full strength Alimentum without gradual switch? How long should I wait before a retrial?

and stomach upsets have been one of the reported side effects.

The Ped’s nurse feels that diarrhea (now fully blown) cant be due to shots..it must be due to formula change or a tummy bug which coincides with shots. I feel so bad for her now

Seth got diarrhea really bad after some shots too one time and when I called they told me he probably picked up a bug while he was there in the office but did not think it was the shots themselves. Poor girl.
If she tolerated the Alimentum before, I think it would be ok to switch back full force. Is Good Start Lactose Free? I know when they have diarrhea, they sometimes say to avoid the milk based formulas. I am wondering if that is why she told you to switch back.

only 4 hours after the shots. Does your daughter have an intolerance to
gelatin? If so, the diarrhea could definitely be from the shots – despite what
the nurse said, diarrhea CAN be from the MMR and/or varicella shots. And
teething can definitely cause diarrhea too. And like Tiffany said, I’d definitely
put her on a lactose free formula until at least 1 week after the diarrhea
ends.

Anvita is still having diarrhea inspite of putting her back to Alimentum and strictly following BRAT diet. She is way too gasy and I can hear her tummy rumbling even when she is asleep. Her Pedi wants me to put her on Pedialyte..but my dd hates the taste of it
I did try eggs a week before her B’day and she did not have any reactions on it on that trial week. I seriously dont think it can be eggs…gelatin or neomycin is something I doubt about.
Is there any record of GI upset as result of vaccinations? Pedi swears that it could be a bug from the toys in her office or due to formula switch…but dd was just alright till she got her shots..I feel so bad for her
