Lisa – that all sounds very run arounding to me with the GI. .. a few more
questions if you don’t mind. . .what exactly were the swallow issues the GI
detected during testing? When Noah spits up is he crying and
uncomfortable or is he a happy spitter? The last question is Noah
diagnosed failure to thrive or has he gained consistently?
My thinking just based on experience and observation of lots of cases
here on the board is if Noah is sleeping fine, happy normally, not back
arching or in need of high doses of reflux meds that the GI doc was
concentrating on the wrong issues. .. .why the heck wouldn’t he consider
DGE or an abnormality in the throat atleast? Sounds like its less of a
reflux thing and more of a digestive anomally issue .. .maybe both? I
would expect more sleeplessness and irritability with allergy/intolerance
and/or reflux but my daughter did not have the classic signs your GI used
to rule out intolerance and she most definitely had an intolerance when
all was said and done. I guess bottom line is you really need someone to
look at the whole picture for you – I really hope the new GI is willing to do
that. If I were you I would be very candid and voice your displeasure
about your sons care thus far (in a non-commital way of course) so that it
sets the tone for the new doc to get to the bottom of this. . .let him know
your not screwing around .
Good luck and keep us updated.
