Yes, that’s right…the highly recommended
GI specialist said all DD has is gas. How do we relieve the gas? By
giving her a laxative of course. Yes, Little Tummys laxative. He want
her to have at least 2 blow outs a day….like sailing the clothes,
bedding and everything around her blow outs. I expected ping into this
appointment him at least changing her reflux meds from zantac to a PPI,
but nooooo, he doesn’t even believe reflux exists. However, he did say
to keep her on zantac only because you shouldn’t change more than one
thing at a time. So, we are supposed to give her a laxative twice a day
with the maximum dose and if she poops too much, we are to slowly
decrease the dose until she has only 2 blow outs a day. I feel like ile
were just written off. I plan on calling her pedi tomorrow to give him
an update and discuss it with him. I don’t feel 100% comfortable giving
her a laxative since the box itself says for 2 years and up only. And
she would be getting it every day for a few weeks. If it doesn’t work,
he wants to put her on fiber at 5 months of age. I just don’t get it. I
mean, seriously!?! I have to see a GI to tell me my daughter has gas!?!
Anyone else get this diagnosis before?

lauraAugust 23, 2011 at 4:37 pm #68920AnonymousInactiveThanks Laura,
I put him on the list. He was highly recommended and being that he is at LIJ which is considered one of NY’s best hospitals, I did NOT think for a second the appointment would go that way. Don’t worry, Erin is not receiving ANY laxative from me unless she is majorly backed up and the Pedi says to use it. I’m hoping my Pedi agrees with me that this is all bull when I speak to him soon. I looked on the recommended list. (That is an AWESOME idea by the way!!!) Seems like another Doc in that practice was recommended. He had a 4 month wait list though.August 23, 2011 at 4:56 pm #68923hellbenntKeymasterglad to help RESEARCH all you can here!
