Hi,
I am new to this forum and hoping that someone may have some experience or advice to help…My daughter is 18 months old, and was diagnosed with GERD, milk protein allergy (even breast milk), Diabetes insipidus at nine weeks. there was a query crohns (runs in the family) but GI ped consultant felt it was too early to know for sure. She was induced early weighing 5llbs. She vomited so much, upto 45 times a day as a new born that she did not gain weight. We eventually managed to get her diagnosed by a GI ped consultant. She went onto Neocate (still taking) various meds now Zantac, citirizine and chlorthiazide. We spent 9 months in and out of hospital, many horrible tests. She was so brave. We did weaning at 17 weeks, but no wheat, fish, egg, milk, soya, no dairy of any description (goat etc). then gradually introduced wheat (she seemed ok, but got very bloated, GI said to continue), soya (ok), fish (ok), egg (bad reaction, kicked the reflux off again – vomiting, mucous poo, very irritable, diaherra, no sleep ect), Milk we have done tenatatively – she appears to react still so have continued to exclude.3 months ago she was so improved, it was almost as if she was a different child. She started to sleep better, be happier, her poo’s settled (it was bad constipation alternating with diaherra, she took laxatives…) so still no regularity to her bowels but at least she seemed less uncomfortable. In the last couple of months these random episodes have occured and I just do not know what to make of it… she began randomly pooping in the night, which she had not done since night feeding stopped at 9 months. She has also started vomiting in her sleep. She doesn’t wake at all, or make a sound, she is just surrounded by vomit in the morning, having appeared to have crawled to another part of her cot in the night. She has always been worse with teething, but nothing like this, although seems to be cutting her 3rd molar at the moment (she has almost all her teeth – 5 left to get )but this seems worse.Last night, it happened again. She threw up little mouth fulls before bed, but seemed fine (she did not want her neocate, but often isn’t interested these days), went to sleep giggling, even though she had been fractious on and off that evening. this morning, she was literally surrounded by piles of vomit. But apart from seeming tired / a little irriatable she seems fine (i.e not ill with a virus ). She did have lots of very stinky poos over the weekend, but I am not sure if this was the teething…I honestly don’t know what to think – is it a bug?, is it the reflux?, is it crohns starting to manifest?Any one with any advice I would be so grateful, I really hoped it was over for her, but now I am not so sure…August 17, 2010 at 8:57 pm #66927AnonymousInactiveOh, I’m so sorry- how frustrating… I will say that when my 2nd son was 15 mths old we trialed wheat & 7 days into the trial he started pooping in the middle of the night (he hadn’t done this since he was 4 mths old). We immediately stopped the wheat trial but the middle of the night poops (+ subsequent horrible diaper rashes) continuted for 3 wks until all the wheat was out of his system. Then, he was much better. So, I would say that it’s probably something she’s eating unfortunately… especially w/ the middle of the night vomitting. That is what I would worry about honestly.
Hang in there & sorry I’m not much more help.
