I’m so sorry Sarah. I hope he’s feeling better soon. Please keep us posted.
June 19, 2006 at 9:05 am #10057AnonymousInactiveWe didn’t end up going to the hospital b/c we think like Christine said that he just gets overly worked up over illness or teething. He is still sick and we found out it was a stomach virus b/c my dh has it now
Luckily my mom is being so nice and coming over to watch Isaac so i can get some sleep and feel better so i can take care of both of them!
June 19, 2006 at 9:16 am #10059AnonymousInactiveStomach viruses are the worse! I hope both he and your DH feel better soon and you can get some rest.
June 19, 2006 at 9:45 am #10061AnonymousInactiveThose stomach bugs can give you really bad tummy cramps and an overall feeling of misery, so if he’s anything like Liza was (still is really) I can understand all the screaming. Fortunately, they tend to pass pretty quickly.
That’s so nice of your mom to help out!
Christine
June 19, 2006 at 6:47 pm #10081AnonymousInactiveThings are not passing quickly enough. He has had 7 explosive bm’s in the last 12 hours and is refusing to drink anything. We called the ped again and she said that we need to try new things to drink and hopefully he will latch on to something and keep hydrated. She said to call back if he is not doing any better tomorrow and we will have to bring him in again for a weight check and overall check for dehydration. I will keep updating you as much as i can!
June 19, 2006 at 8:10 pm #10082AnonymousInactiveOh Sarah! I’m sorry he’s so sick. Ellie had a really bad bug once and would not drink anything. It was so frightening. She was older (about 2) and verbal, so at least she could tell me what was bothering her, but it was still very stressful. The doctor was very concerned about dehydration. She was right on the verge of having to be admitted to the hospital. I read somewhere to give her a tablespoon of liquid every 10 – 15 minutes all day long to prevent dehydration. (She wouldn’t drink from a cup). I gave her pedialyte every 10 to 15 minutes. It was tedious, but she stay hydrated enough to stay out of the hospital. Myles was a a refluxing newborn at the time and I was pumping my breasts every two hours because he wouldn’t nurse. Talk about madness! I thought I’d lose my mind. She was sick about a week, but snapped out of it and was fine suddenly. How long has Isaac been so sick? I hope it gets better soon.
June 19, 2006 at 9:10 pm #10084AnonymousInactiveSarah,
I’m so sorry to hear that Isaac is still so sick! I hope that you can manage to get him to drink something so he can stay hydrated. Will he suck on a wet washcloth? Or what about offering him a little open cup with some water in it when you’re giving him his bath. Good luck.
June 20, 2006 at 6:28 am #10093AnonymousInactiveI hope Isaac is feeling better today – Lori’s ideas about the wet
washcloth and tiny sips from open cup sound good. Will he take ice
chips or a popsicle?June 20, 2006 at 10:06 am #10102AnonymousInactiveI ended up melting a popsicle b/c he wouldn’t take anything else and he took a few sips last night. This morning he seems to be feeling better and he drank 2 oz of water with a little pedialyte and a few tiny pieces of bread. So far so good. I found out who gave him the virus-some lady that works at the gym with me told my friend who works there too that she couldn’t afford to call off so she brought her son to the gym with a stomach virus! she will be hearing it from me!
June 20, 2006 at 10:37 am #10104AnonymousInactiveOh my gosh – I would KILL that lady – that’s horrible of her to do to
everyone. Glad Isaac is feeling a little better – hope he continues on
the mend.June 20, 2006 at 1:24 pm #10119AnonymousInactiveGlad Isaac is starting to feel better! I would be SO mad at that lady… unfortunately I’ve run into a lot of people like that.
June 20, 2006 at 1:33 pm #10122AnonymousInactiveI’m so happy to hear Isaac is feeling better. That woman obviously has no common courtesy or compassion for anyone but herself.
June 21, 2006 at 10:39 am #10201AnonymousInactiveLast night he got sick again and this morning so it started up again. This is the worst stomach virus ever! and now my mom got it and i feel so bad about it!
June 21, 2006 at 11:36 am #10206AnonymousInactiveOh my gosh Sarah! How long has it been going on for? What does the doctor say? I have heard that because PPIs kill acid in the stomach, it makes kids more susceptible to stomach bugs. Don’t know if it’s ture. Hope he’s feeling better soon.
June 21, 2006 at 1:45 pm #10216AnonymousInactiveLori-Interesting about the ppi’s I was thinking the same thing! The dr said it could take a few days to work it out of his system so i don’t know! He has been fine today but I cannot keep just giving him pedialyte and crackers can i? This all started friday night My mil is watching him tonight so we can go out with some friends and try to be less stressed! She is a nurse so I feel ok leaving him with her.
