Isaac was already going strong on his latest hunger strike and was on antibiotics for ear infections. Then i went to the store to get something for the pain in my ear (i had a cold and my ear popped and i started to have really bad pain in my ear) and isaac started throwing up all over the place and all over my poor husband. He threw up all the way home in his carseat and then refused pedialyte. He is just taking a little water at this point so luckily he is not looking dehydrated. He has just wanted to be held and he is not a cuddler at all normally. I really should have know that this was going to happen b/c we had a couple of “good” weeks.
I will be sending pics out once everythig settles down here. Lori your family is beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
June 17, 2006 at 9:38 am #9962AnonymousInactiveOh no Sarah – I’m so sorry to hear this. Poor Isaac and poor Mommy and Daddy! I hope he feels better soon – big hugs from us.
June 17, 2006 at 1:31 pm #9974AnonymousInactivePoor little guy. Probably a lousy stomach virus. I hope he feels better soon.
June 17, 2006 at 3:12 pm #9986AnonymousInactiveI talked to the ped and he told me to stop the antibiotic and push the liquids. He said if he is not better by monday to go ahead and bring him in. I am starting to think it is a virus as he has had a few diaper blow outs and now has a horrible rash. What can i do while he is still having diarrhea for the rash? I have tried some desitin and hydrocortisone and not much different if not worse.
June 17, 2006 at 3:48 pm #9989AnonymousInactiveKaren (Marisa’s mom) posted this link and I bookmarked it in case I ever needed it. I don’t know how fast they can ship it but it does look like good stuff and I’d definitely try it if my kids had bad diaper rashes. Liza used to get terrible rashes; I wish I had know about this stuff back then.
I read once in a parents magazine that some pediatricians use Maalox for diaper rashes that are caused by diarrhea because the acid in the diarrhea is what burns the skin so badly. The pinxav has some kind of Maalox ingredient in it; that’s why I think it would probably work well for this kind of rash.
My doctor told always told me to load the desitin on thick and Liza’s rashes always went away but it took a week or more usually.
I hope he’s feeling better soon.
June 17, 2006 at 9:30 pm #10000AnonymousInactiveI’m so sorry that he’s not feeling well Sarah! When are you guys going to catch a break.
June 18, 2006 at 9:10 am #10010AnonymousInactiveYup that’s me Christine – we LOVE the pinxav – we use it every night to
protect overnight and whenever else needed – otherwise we just use
A&D.Sarah – I’m so sorry Isaac isn’t well – hope this passes soon. Big hugs.
June 18, 2006 at 9:21 am #10014AnonymousInactiveWell it this point it worse if you can imagine that. He has been crying for 1 1/2 hours and i am waiting on the on call ped to call back. We have given him tylenol and mylicon. Both really haven’t done anything for him. Any other ideas? He is only keeping water down at this point.
June 18, 2006 at 9:54 am #10016AnonymousInactiveOh no Sarah – and on his birthday too – poor boy and poor mommy. Does
he have a fever? Will Mylanta settle his tummy at all? Can he hold down
Pedialyte?June 18, 2006 at 10:33 am #10019AnonymousInactiveHe has a low grade fever. I am afraid to try mylanta b/c of the diarrhea effect. And he is refusing to drink pedialyte at all and he will take small sips of water. He finally cried himself to sleep and i fell horrible about it! The ped on call told us to bring him in at 11:30 (they do emergency visits on sundays-thank god). I will update when i get back!
June 18, 2006 at 11:01 am #10023AnonymousInactiveDefinitely keep us posted and I hope everything is OK – will be thinking of you guys.
June 18, 2006 at 12:48 pm #10025AnonymousInactiveThe ped said his ears are fine, that he most likely has a stomach virus, that all 4 molars are coming in at the same time (this we knew and they are about half way out), and that he shouldn’t be screaming like that for any of those reasons. We had given him tylenol earlier and now she said take him home and make him comfortable give him motrin, crackers, and water. She wants us to call back in 2-3 hours and let her know how he is doing. If he is still screaming then she wants us to take him to children’s hospital for xrays of his stomach and intestine b/c she feels the screaming is louder and more ongoing than it should be.
June 18, 2006 at 1:00 pm #10027AnonymousInactiveOh Sarah – so sorry to hear that Isaac is not feeling any better.
We’re thinking of you guys, please let us know how things go this
afternoon. Hugs…………June 18, 2006 at 1:10 pm #10028AnonymousInactiveOh, my. I hope he’s o.k. Good news about his ears. Is he the kind of kid who gets overly worked up when sick or hurt? My first was an easy baby but when she was hurting she really over reacted and screamed like she was about to die in pain. I hope he calms down and you don’t have to take him to the hospital. But, it’s good that the doctor is taking things serioulsy and not letting it go. Please let us know how he’s doing.
Christine
