i don’t even know where to start since we had a clear scope the doctor said we could start trialing food again. yesterday, I started with squash (since she already did ok with this before), then i added 1/4 of a stage 1 green bean baby food jar. all sems to be well i put her to bed and 3 hours later she started crying in her sleep. this went on every 2-3 hours. the morning came and i attemped to start up our routine and she is no very willing to drink anyhting. so i just try putting throug her tube. 1/2 hour later she threw up. she threw up the next 2 feedings too. then i started pedyliate and the trowing up got better. I try checking her stomach content and 3 hours later she has like 2 ounces of stuff left. She is not empting her stomach very well. she usually emptys most of it by 3 hours, but ever since the food trial she is emptying it so slow, even with just being on pedyliate. Iam getting a bit worry about dehydration, never mind losing wt again (she lost wt since the endoscopy due to vomitng a lot). i’ll be doing conitnous feed of just pedialyte tonight and i hope she is better tomorrow I called the allergist and he’ll see her on the 23rd. i’ll be asking about a pacth test. I also think she may have FPIES(Food Protein Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome). i’ll be asking the allergist about this. I have been reading baout it, since Kendra has a reaction to rice and oatmeal cereal so far and doesn’t seem to tolerate any beans, we tried.

August 17, 2007 at 10:12 am #41272AnonymousInactiveOh, no! I am so sorry. I have hoped and prayed that she would tolerate her food trials. I feel so very sad for you and Kendra.

August 17, 2007 at 11:25 am #41280AnonymousInactiveI’m so sorry she isn’t tolerating the food. I’ll continue to pray that you will be able to get to the bottom of Kendra’s problems and that she’ll be able to start eating soon.
August 17, 2007 at 12:36 pm #41283AnonymousInactiveThanks everyone. No food for Kendra for a while. I’ll be seeing the allergist next week, hopefully he can help us.
August 17, 2007 at 2:29 pm #41287AnonymousInactiveHey Leo, Sorry your trial was unsuccessful. I was just thinking that I saw a post last week saying that beans were high in protein and that maybe next time around, the squash would be better tolerated if mixed with some homemade mashed avocados or even carrots or sweet potatoes. Just a thought. We are trialing too and planning on saving beans and peas for last. And, so what if you have squash everyday!!!
August 17, 2007 at 2:42 pm #41288AnonymousInactiveFoleybelle,
thank you for the advice and encoraugment. I have learned my lesson and boy beans and peas have been added to the list of “will try when she is 3” (eggs, soy, diary, meat, now beans and peas). She is having a very hard time going back to normal. the biggest problem is that she is not emptying her stomach hardly at all, so thowing up is a big hit right nowI have to go back to pedialyte. it’ has been 2 days already. ughhhAugust 17, 2007 at 6:51 pm #41292AnonymousInactiveLeo,
Did you happen to see these threads? Is Kendra doing any better?August 17, 2007 at 7:48 pm #41294AnonymousInactiveChirstine,
i have read these threads before and i am so convinced kendra fits most of these symptons. I’ll be talking to the allergist next week about this. If he is not helpful i will just diagnose myself for the time being until i can find a another allergist willing to help. i will have to ask Addysmommy how she started her food trial at 16 months to determine that it was safe to give her food. Thanks so much for posting those.August 17, 2007 at 7:50 pm #41295AnonymousInactiveChristine,
After 48 hours she i starting to emptying her stomach a bit faster. I am hoping the next few hours are the end of this ordeal.thanks again.August 17, 2007 at 8:33 pm #41300AnonymousInactiveHey Leo. Just getting to this.. sorry to hear about Kendra. That has to be so disappointing, frustrating and sad for you. I hope that your trip to the allergist will bring forth some real answers for you.
I’m glad to hear that she seems to be getting back on track though.August 17, 2007 at 8:56 pm #41304AnonymousInactiveNaomi thanks so much. I am so wiped out!!!
August 18, 2007 at 10:01 am #41330AnonymousInactiveOh, good. I hope things are back to normal (well, normal for her) soon. Keep us posted.
August 19, 2007 at 12:21 pm #41382AnonymousInactiveI am so sorry Kendra went through this. I hope it was just the beans she had a hard time with and that other foods are better tolerated. Poor thing. I am glad she is feeling better now!
